Disney Cruise Brides!!! Part Deux!!

We are doing the castaway cay deal. I read in the stiff that the cake cutting is inboard immediately following. Does anybody know about this? Does this mean we can't rent a cabana and hang out? Do we have to get right back on the boat? So excited I can't breath!

I had the same question! I love the idea of doing a Castaway Cay wedding but want to enjoy the whole day on the island, not on the boat. I'm almost leaning more towards and onboard ceremony because of it.

That is what made us decide to go onboard as well and its $1000 cheaper and getting married on the isalnd is only a 15-30 mintue ceremony and then everything is back onboard have you started a planning journal yet?

I've started mapping out dates and itineraries, but am at the very begging stages of planning!

I'm looking for photography suggestions--mostly for onboard :beach:, but also looking for engagement and bridal portrait suggestions. (They don't all have to be the same:) Help!

Castaway cay wedding on fantasy jan 3 2015

Been lurking on the boards for past couple of years..and have learned allot

Originally we were all set to get married at Aulani. But just a few months ago wedding planner emailed us and said Aulani has adjust their rates and season dates
Bumped our wedding discount rooms to $899 per night ( for family of 4)

Since majority of our guest are coming for Australia...we just could not ask them to dig deeper in their pockets and pay those room rates
Since a family of 4 from Australia would spend $10,000 to $12,000 just to step foot in Hawaii (airfare only)

Since we are one big extended family that always travels together...did not want to do a few days at Aulani..they would have needed to call security to remove us from the resort lol

Thus the cruise option is a much better fit
Since we can sail 7 nights together..sort of an extended wedding extravaganza. VS 4 or so hour traditional wedding. And few nights at Aulani

Though we know the cruise wedding is by no means a traditional wedding. We spent a good couple of months looking into it...and seeing what can/can't be done
Trust me we have talked about doing allot of things...now just seeing if/what we want to do. Or, just to stick with the normal package
We can say that we initially received allot of negative feedback from wedding planers for even attempting to modify even the smallest detail of the cruise wedding package.
However, we were able to speak with some Disney cast members (when assisting with their website redesign) and they are interested in trying different things. So DCL and wedding department are open to our ideas/ changes now.

We have been planing/working with DFTW for well over 2 years
We even were asked to help give our feedback for their website redesign. As I'm sure we can all agree the lack of information is frustrating.
Our biggest complaint was lack of pricing...can't commit to anything without knowing even a rough cost estimate. Which thankfully they are now attempting to do.
More so since majority of everyone coming is from Australia. As noted it's a huge expensive just in airfare alone. Not to mention the thousands of dollars you lose during currency exchange.

Really would like to do plaining journal and all of that
Just don't have much free time...but going to do our best to give it a shot

As I think we could bring allot to the table.
First off this is not being written from the bride...but the groom. Not everyday the groom is in charge. Lol

In addition, with both of us being in the entertainment industry. All of these sort of details, plans, party's, organizing, large group of people is second nature to us.
Think we would be able to give back to the community....as I know we learned pretty much everything with DFTW thur the vast community here.

Big thank you to everyone out there who posts...we would not been able to do this without you!

Congrulations on choosing a cruise wedding :cool1: i am sure Aulani would have been just beautiful but I can understand not wanting to pay extra! Weddings always seem to go up don't they? and how exciting to have a Groom writing its always nice to get the point of view of the Groom and how fun that the DFTW want to work with more changes I think lack of being able to customize has been a big thorn in peoples side so hopefully those changes can happen! hope you start a PJ would love to read along :surfweb:

Hello Disney Cruise brides :goodvibes

I am getting married onboard the Disney Magic and I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the newly redone Keys? That should be my wedding spot and I have not had a chance to go back on the magic since the makeover. I wanted to add some decorations but not sure what I am working with so any ideas or suggestions of pictures of the new Keys would be great! Thank you so much can't wait for the new 2015 brides PJ's :cool1:

Hey ... We're onboard on May 31st and will be visiting Keys as that's our preferred spot for the ceremony.

I'll be sure to take lots of photos for you. Any particulars you want, please PM me as I don't read this thread as often as I should!

Cheers
Joa

I loved having my "Dream" wedding last December. I have enjoyed seeing all the pictures and reading the posts! So excited for the future brides! You are going to have the time of your life! More than happy to answer any questions. I would have loved to have had some help along the way. Good luck!

Hey fellow brides! I ordered my save the date magnets from etsy! They are a cruise line design that I came across. SO excited. What did you guys do for save the dates?!
