also... I tried sending Shanda an email tonight and i got an "out of office" reply she wont be back till October 1st. Just in case any dcl brides wanted to get a hold of her i would wait till then when shes back :hippie:

Thanks for thr info...I was wondering why she wasn't emailing me back :confused3 Wonder why I didn't get her out of office :confused3

Do Cruise Line wedding guests also get discounted tickets to the Parks? I can't find anything about it anywhere... And Shanda has been impossible to get a hold of...

Also, is concierge service still included? I see that I can make online reservations for onboard and shore activities 120 days before my cruise wedding, but I didn't get any number I can call or anything else that would indicate that I can use concierge services. I also noticed that it is no longer listed in the official "what is included" list.

Thanks for your input!

Hi everyone... I just got back from my first DCL cruise (4day),and now I'm seriously rethinking having our vow renewal on CC. Due to the tropical storm,we weren't able to go to CC at all(disappointed, but to be expected when cruising during hurricane season),so we had 2 days at sea instead and we were able to do Nassau on day 2. Since the vow renewal will be in September of next year (hurricane season),the same thing may happen again. I know they said in the contract that if we can't get to CC due to mother nature,we will not be refunded anything. DH and I are still debating whether or not to ask Chanda if the other sites are still available for this sailing. Decisions...Decisions...

i think any bride that wants to have an outdoor wedding is taking their chances with weather. i'm getting married in august (hurricane season) and my one fear is weather as well (& sea sickness  lol) i think im gonna take my chances though, at least its on a cruise! think of it this way you have so much entertainment, every day is gonna feel like your wedding, and every dinner is gonna feel like your reception, and every party is gonna feel like its for you guys with friends and family. i would think about it and see how much getting married on castaway cay means to you.

I agree, even if it's not on the beach, let's face it; there's not a place on the whole ship that is ugly!

I am new to Disboards. My mom gave me the heads up about all the wonderful help and information which is available here from past and future brides. My fiancee and I are getting married on board the Disney Dream October 30, 2011 sailing on October 31. I am very excited to have such a wealth of information and somewhere to ask questions of felllow excited Disney goers. We will be honeymooning at Walt Disney World post cruise.

I am excited to make a planning page and get to know all you ladies!

Thank you for all the information you have all provided thus far it has been a big help. I am off to study for some tests I have this week, but will be back soon to learn and plan more. (The cruise is also a celebration of my fiancee and my graduation from Kent State.)

Yes, congrats and welcome! Also, I'm waving up toward Kent State from down in the Ohio University region! :)

You should start a planning blog because there aren't very many of us DCL brides planning together!

Yay and :welcome: to the new brides! I hope everyone starts a pj so I can live vicariously through you guys.

I can't wait to see those of you who have Dream weddings coming up!

There aren't many dcl brides around and I think we need to stick together.

No - park tickets are not included with DCL DFTW - kind of a bummer, but it's part of why the packages are cheaper.

As far as the beach in Sept. - it is a risk. I think it's unfair to Disney to keep that money when you don't get to use it - it's not like someone else can use it either. If you have the money to risk - go for it. Just go at the end of the month. Weather has been calm for the last couple of weeks.

I am actually glad we didn't get off the ship for our ceremony. It was a lot less stressful. It was perfect on the deck b/c we still had the water right there. That's just my opinion though. Good luck making a decision.

Also - I got blogged! I didn't get a full page to myself, but I made it on Carly's wedding blog. I wish she would continue to put up more DCL brides and weddings on there.

Thank you very much for the congratulations. It was funny when I called to make my deposits the cruise line group cast member I spoke with said congratulations to me and I asked for what? I guess with school and work, the reality that I am planning MY wedding hasn't really sunk in. I'll be starting my planning guide soon, I just have to share my finding the drew story and pictures because I am choosing not to let my fiancée see it until the wedding so apart from my few close friends, I haven't gotten to share the excitement!

So excited that fellow Ohioans are disboarders! I am originally a Northern Californian, but have been here in Ohio for about 5 years. I miss Disneyland so much.

Has anyone ran into trouble trying to take weddingish photos at the Magic Kingdom? I am a huge haunted mansion fan and saw an in park picture that was gorgeous. I found a party dress that is ivory and wedding looking, but in mo way as bulky as my dress and was going to where it to the park for a photo or two and then change and keep it in a locker. Was thinking of trying to get my bouquet in as well. I am a college student on a budget and can not afford the thousand dollar photo shoot.

Thanks again!

I have heard that they will not let you in the MK with a wedding dress on, BUT if you had it in something, changed and took your picture, and then changed back who would know...

Hey all you lucky Disney Cruise Brides. Just wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed reading along with all your plans. We were married November 10, 2008 in Disney and while we are not planning on doing a 5 Year VR - we are thinking of a 5 Year Anniversary Party.

One big question, how far in advance can you check out cruises. I went online and it looks like it is just through 2011 now - I guess we need 2013 (ouch).

Looking forward to reading more.

Linda

If you did this with an actual wedding dress and a Cast Member saw you, you'd probably get thrown out. However, if you just wore a white cocktail dress or sundress, how are they really going to say anything?

You can book an outside photographer to do pics in your wedding gear around the resorts. You can see the castle from the Poly and the GF - the outside photographers are much more affordable, and you wouldn't have to worry about getting thrown out from Disney.

My actual dress is pretty bulky, so I found an ivory Betsy Johnson cocktail dress to substitute and wear during our ladies night on the cruise before the wedding. I could even wear it in, and if anyone tried to throw me out of Disney during my honeymoon I wouldn't be a very happy camper especially since my entire years tips is paying for the cruise and honeymoon.

We are planning in attending the Party of the Senses during the Food and Wine festival so I imagine others may be deessed up that day to go to the park too. A quick trip to the Haunted Mansion wouldn't be too bad. I was thinking jeans and a vest of some kind for my future hubby, so even attraction pictures would be themed. I can always try and if I am asked to leave, I'll just go back to the resort and change.

Thank you all for the quick info!

I am sure you would be fine in a cocktail dress and if questioned you could always say you were at Food and Wine and ran over. Make sure you post the pics. It sounds like fun!

hi everyone, loved reading the posts. We were hoping for a VR booked on 16th August dream. Ive rung twice and emailed and although Im told someone will get back to me they dont. Is this usual? Also is it correct that there are only a limited number of weddings VR. If thats the case I would feel gready booking a VR when I may be stopping a bride from her wedding day. Thoughts anyone:confused3
