We are supposed to set sail on the Disney Dream next Monday, September 23rd! However with Hurricane Maria out there heading toward the Bahamas and then unknown after that my concern is how soon does Disney assess the situation and make a call on cancelling the cruise. Our plan was to head down the weekend before but I hate to go all that way if they will have to cancel the cruise due to weather/hurricane, etc. Does anyone have any info on how early they will cancel it if they are going to?
Thanks!

Based on the last couple of years from 1-3 days ahead of time

This year for Irma, DCL cancelled 3 cruises. All were announced on September 5th - for cruise dates of 9/8, 9/9 and 9/11. So that is 3-6 days in advance. If I recall, last year for Matthew they cut it much closer -- maybe just 1-2 days ahead. Hopefully the longer lead time this year was intention after lessons learned in 2016, but it may all depend on how easily the storm is to predict the path.

Enjoy your cruise!

Actually, Maria is NOT predicted to hit the Bahamas. She is expected to turn east well before the Bahamas. Anything can happen but I live in FL and am scheduled to leave on Friday the 22nd to Nassau. Their forecast in Nassau has it as raining but with winds of only 15-20 MPH.

This is exactly what I was going to say.
