Disney Consumer Research Email

Hi everyone,

I received the following email about being invited to potentially participate in an interview about the development of a Disney mobile website. It will be conducted by an independent research company, Jackson Associates. I was wondering if anyone else received this email, or if anyone knows if it is legit?

I received it, too and gave it the side-eye. It seems shady to me.

Didn't get one, but the idea of them needing to interview you 'live' seems odd to me. Most professionally conducted surveys use structured questions to solicit input from a large number of randomly selected people. Live interviews would take more of their time and with any type of survey, they will need to categorize the answers to come up with any conclusions or summaries. The idea that one of their employees would be taking 'notes' as they discuss various topics would seem to be a fairly inefficient way to conduct any survey. I would give this one a pass. Poorly constructed surveys are often useless from the standpoint of data analysis.

Jackson Associates is a real research study company. They have locations in Atlanta, Boston, and LA - easily Googleable. It is not at all strange for them to want live interviews over Zoom. I participate in paid studies all the time. They were always in person before the pandemic and then I’ve done one online since the craziness started. Just last week DH and I stopped off on the way to work for a 10-minute study that earned us each a $35 Kroger gift card. In two weeks I’ve got one scheduled that pays $200 for one hour. The money on these things can be crazy, and easy! I wish I received the Disney one that you guys are getting! Does it pay?

Update: Called twice this morning. No answer. Then I remembered that they might not be in the office due to covid. I will try again this afternoon, and once more tomorrow, after which I will give up. LOL

I got this too and called them today. Didn't get an answer but was directed to the voicemail of the woman mentioned in the email. Guess we'll see if we get any response!
