DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

March 2nd, 2013 - DisneyQuest (Part 1)

This morning my body automatically woke me up at 7 am. OMG DISNEY TRIP DAY. But wait, 7 am is a little ridiculous. So I went to sleep for another hour and a half and woke up at 8:30 am.

I posted on twitter:
Body. Go back to sleep. Being awake right now is just a dumb idea.

I got up, took a shower, and got ready for the day. I packed up the rest of my stuff and then Mark came over. We loaded up the car and headed out of Patterson at 11 am.

Mark and I decided to go to Downtown Disney to pass the time. We were going to go on Character’s in Flight but unfortunately it was way too windy today. We will have to go back again another time!

We looked around Curl and then went to Tren-D. They had the release of the Beautifully Disney make-up line today! I’m so excited that I got to be there!

I only ended up buying the blue-green nail polish. It is SO pretty! I can’t wait to use it!

After that we got in line for Wolfgang Puck! There was an older couple behind us and they actually lived an hour and a half away from our home town! Then the Mom in front of us was asking me questions about her dining plan and we found out that she checked in to Art of Animation today! Not only that but they were in THE LION KING SECTION! And not only THAT but they’re going to Crystal Palace tomorrow morning and their ADR is for 10 minutes before ours! What a small world.

We got our food at Wolfgang Puck. Mark doesn’t typically like pizza, but he decided to try the Margarita Flatbread pizza and he ate the whole thing! He does like some flat breads so clearly this one was good! Next time he would just order it without the tomatoes.

I got the four cheese pesto pizza. SURPRISE! I would’ve got the mac and cheese but I had to save up for Chef Mickey’s later.

After that we decided to go over to DisneyQuest!

Our Wreck It Ralph obsession is growing by the second.

We went right to Fix It Felix Junior! That’s the game that inspired our whole trip here.

Not to mention, our song of the day was “Sugar Rush.” Mark enjoys Japanese pop music. Aka we listened to that song about 20 times today.

After we played that, we went on the Virtual Jungle Cruise! That was crazy! You had to paddle on the sides of your boat and there were so many Dinosaurs! It was strange. It felt like Dinosaur from Animal Kingdom combined with Jungle Cruise. My arms were tired... it was a lot of work!

Then we went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! THAT WAS MY FAVORITE ONE. My Toy Story Mania skills DEFINITELY helped me out in here. It was so much fun!

Then we went to the Aladdin simulator. Not only does it transport you to Agrabah, but it also transports you back to the 1990's.

After that we decided to do the 2:30 pm drawing class! We drew Pluto! It was so much fun!! Mine ended up being adorable and I was very happy with it. Mark and I both bought our pictures and got pins as well! My pin had Minnie Mouse on it.

Then we went on CyberSpace Mountain! We went upside down 4 times so it was crazy! The intensity level was only 3 out of 5 so that wasn’t too bad, but still! It was fun. They actually record you during your ride.. and you can buy the recording of it on a DVD... or a VHS.

Now they're playing Animal Kingdom Oasis music in here. I'm so confused!!!

After that we went on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Mark drove and I shot the cannons. It was fun but then we got stuck… so ya know. Half of the ride we were just sitting there waiting for this other girl to move.

THE CLAAAAAAW!!!!

Then we left and realized that I didn’t have my Beautifully Disney bag anymore! I thought I left it at Wolfgang Puck so we went back to check. Thank goodness they had it! Yay crisis averted!

Then we left Downtown Disney. We went to the Clubhouse and picked up my package. I ordered a rechargeable phone case for my iPhone 5 which is going to solve SO many problems. My phone dies so fast.

I went back to my apartment and grabbed my bathing suit because I forgot it. Then we didn’t know what to do because we had 2 hours until Preston would arrive so we decided to go to Hollywood Studios!

Walking into Hollywood Studios was one of the most painfully cold moments of my life. I felt like the cold wind was attacking us on our entire walk there. WHERE DID THE WARMTH GO!?!

Lol just casually going to ride tower of terror while we wait for Preston's flight to get in because we don't know what else to do

We went on Tower of Terror which was SO much fun. Plus the line wasn’t long which is just a beautiful thing.

After that we decided on Toy Story Mania! The line really was not bad at all and we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes.

I ended up doing AWESOME today!! I was pleased.

We went to Art of Animation after that. AHHHH SO EXCITED!!!!!

We hung around in the gift shop and I bought some chapstick because the cold and windy weather made my lips get so chapped. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUN!?

THEN WE WAITED FOR PRESTON TO GET THERE!!!!!

March 2nd, 2013 (Part 2) - OUR LION KING ROOM!!!!

THIS IS BECOMING MY LIFE FOR THE NEXT 6 NIGHTS.

Then we sat by the TV and artist desk while we waited for Preston. Soon he frumped his way into the lobby and I saw him right away and ran up and gave him a huge hug!!!!

WE WERE IN DISNEY TOGETHER OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went right over to the front desk to check in. We got our room and we were on the 4th floor of the Lion King Section! PERFECT. We grabbed our refillable mugs and headed to the car.

Mark, Preston, and I drove over to the room and brought our luggage up. I already lost my room key because I’m a frump.

Our Lion King suite was ADORABLE. Oh my God, I’m so happy that we were able to stay here. It was so bright and colorful. It’s so clean and beautiful and I love it SO MUCH.

Karen and Alexander arrived shortly after Preston did. They came up to the room quickly and then we had to leave for dinner!

A Magic Kingdom bus was waiting right there for us so we hopped on! We walked to the Contemporary from the Magic Kingdom and we checked in for our reservation! Sergio met us there and he joined us for dinner!

We took our group picture and then waited less than ten minutes for our table.

We were so incredibly happy to be reunited!

We were seated at a big table and everyone was SO EXCITED TO EAT.

Our first character who came by was Mickey! THAT’S THE PERFECT WAY TO BEGIN! Chef Mickey is the best because he makes us food!

We saw Goofy was headed our way but we still had a little time, so we ran to the buffet. THERE WAS SO MUCH GOOD FOOD IT WASN'T EVEN FUNNY.

YES, THOSE ARE THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF PASTA YOU SEE ON ONE PLATE. I know how to LIVE.

This chowder was INCREDIBLE. Alexander was obsessed.

Now I want to watch Lion King!
The room is amazing!! My daughter and I are staying at AofA when we come in May, but for only two nights. I'm very excited about it!!

Y'all are so cute! I'm glad you had such a wonderful time together, I can't wait to see what other adventures y'all ended up having.

March 2nd, 2013 (Part 3) - Chef Mickey's!

Then Goofy was next! He was so fun and took lots of time to interact with us. We loved him!

Goofy pointed out Preston and my anniversary buttons which was super adorable!

After he left we made it up for round two of the buffet! YAY YAY YAY!!!! I wish I could’ve eaten more!! Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted WONDERFUL.

Then Minnie came by! She also pointed out our anniversary buttons! She had so much energy, I loved it!

Next was Pluto! MY FAVORITE, FAVORITE, FAVORITE!!!

Then we grabbed DESSERT. Oh my God, they had the most incredible options. I tried most of them. There wasn’t one that I didn’t like!

They called their M&M's "cosmic gems" and Preston was very amused by that.

Our last character was Donald! He passed by us earlier and then he finally made his way back. He quacks me up. (HA HA)

We were visited once again by Mickey and Minnie. Mickey loved Mark’s Mickey shirt so they had to take another picture – it was perfect!

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!! This was literally the perfect way to kick off our vacation!

There was a huge pin board on the way out of the restaurant. Then we went to the gift shop and there was another pin board! I also bought a few pins and so did Karen and Alexander.

I told Preston there was a 5 legged goat in this mural and he found it instantly! He's really good at finding things.

Then we headed to the monorail! IT WAS PRESTON’S FIRST MONORAIL RIDE EVER!!!!!!!!!! And it was the green one, which is his favorite color!

Yay friends.

We had bus luck on our side tonight because an Art of Animation bus was waiting for us at Magic Kingdom! We got back to the resort and browsed around the gift shop and then Karen and Alexander got their refillable mugs.

We went back to the room and went to sleep! We have an early morning tomorrow! WOOHOO!

I literally don’t have any complaints about any of the food tonight except for that I wish I could’ve eaten more.

I almost hate to eat at buffets because I don't feel like it's cost effective. The food at Chef Mickey's is always amazing! I'm glad you had fun with your friends.

Oh my goodness, I'm so happy now! You guys look so incredibly happy and excited! I now that you had the best experience ever, and I'm sure Preston couldn't have had a better introduction to Disney.

I have still never eaten at Chef Mickey's even after all of my trips, and your pictures make me want to go SO BAD, haha. The food just looks incredible! Can't wait to read more and experience all of your fun and joy together!!!!!

Jess I just wanted to thank you for this thread. You sound like so many other CP members I have known.

As an alum of the CP program I recall doing many of the same things you have been doing. We worked really hard, went to classes, ate pretty much all our meals at Disney (it was cheaper then groceries) and went out with groups of cp members to the parks and other locations in Orlando. We had very little money after rent and food, but the experience was memorable.

My favorite memory was a large group of us went on a one day cruise to the Bahamas. The ship didnt have much entertainment on the way back so we were creating our own fun and including other passengers. It was Disney clean fun. Pretty soon the ships crew was calling the "Vista Way" group to certain locations so we could get something fun going.

I look forward to the rest of your post!!! Keep the pictures and food porn coming. Hope they still have the grad ball at the end of your semester. Will look for you on our next trip. Keep having fun and enjoy every minute!!!!!

I haven't been to DisneyQuest in... wow, 13 years! I want to go back though! I can not believe they have Fix It Felix Jr there now. I've played it on my computer and my cousin's iPhone so many times hahaha. I want to play the real thing though!

YOU AND PRESTON IN DISNEY SHOULD BE A REALITY SHOW, WHO'S WITH ME?

I am so happy to hear that Chef Mickey's is good now. The dinner used to be completely reviled here on the boards, and no one could figure out how the breakfast was so good but the dinner was awful. I LOVED eating breakfast there on my 16th birthday, but I can not wait to try the dinner. I need Mickey ravioli!!
