April 9th, 2013 (Part 1) - Father Daughter Fishing Trip and Le Cellier!
This morning I got up around 8:45 am, got ready, and went down to have some club level breakfast! Wheeeeee I love it.
I got some pineapple and a croissant.
I also got oatmeal with dried blueberries and brown sugar!
Dad and I headed over to the Polynesian boat dock for our 10 am fishing excursion!
I posted on twitter: It wouldn't be a father daughter trip if we didn't go fishing!
We were greeted by our captain whose name was Kevin. He was SUCH a nice guy! He used to be a baseball pitcher and he played pro-ball in Saint Louis before tendonitis ended his career. He sounds like he had quite a good run! He has two daughters ages 7 and 11 and he has been a fishing captain for Disney for quite a good while now!
We fished out in the 7 Seas Lagoon in a variety of different spots. Dad had some good luck all throughout the day. I, unfortunately, didnt catch ANYTHING until the last half hour of our excursion. Dad and I both caught 4 fish each so I was super satisfied! Its so much fun when a fish finally catches the bait and you get to reel it in! It's just a really exciting moment of a person's life. Plus I am happy its catch and release at Disney because I always feel bad when people keep the fish.
Look at me bein' all brave!
HELLO MY BEAUTIFUL HOME!
THE WILDERNESS BEAUTY.
It was such a gorgeous day.
Proud of my fishie.
Our excursion was done at 12 oclock. Back to the Poly!
Dad went back to the room for a little bit and then planned to meet up with me for lunch! However, took the monorail right over to Epcot! I went to meet Mark because we had to do a project for our hospitality class with Bobby and Lisa really fast.
SOLO MONORAIL RIDE!
View from the monorail:
Group photo!
We met up and did the project. Then once it was done, Mark and I found Shane and Surge in World Showcase and we walked around together for a bit. We went into France so we could take a look at Auroras new dress.
Then we went into Japan and Shane got a Spicy Tuna Roll! Yum! We chilled in Japan for a little bit and then the boys had to leave and go to Blizzard Beach!
I said goodbye once we hit Canada and I waited for my Dad to meet me there! We had lunch reservations at Le Cellier at 2 pm. We were seated very quickly and our waiter was George!
I always get the exact same thing here at Le Cellier: the Cheddar Cheese Soup, the Pretzel Bread, and the Mushroom Filet Mignon. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT.The bread was warm and fresh and the soup tasted GREAT. My Dad often forgets how PERFECT certain Disney foods are, so the glorious pretzel bread was like a new discovery all over again for him.
Also, this one of the best filets Ive had here out of all of the times I have ordered it. Honestly. I'm not kidding.
Dad got the Rib eye and said it was AMAZING. He tried both of our steaks and he said his was flavorful and mine was tender. So both of them were fantastic!
We were STUFFED but that dining plan just *forces* you to order dessert. Its such a hard life, I know. So I HAD to get the white chocolate cheesecake, which was PHENOMENAL. Oh my God. It literally tasted like white chocolate and there were raspberries on it. AH! So good.
Then Dad got the Maple Crème Brule and he was BLOWN away!
Needless to say, our experience at Le Cellier was phenomenal. We had an extremely enjoyable time and I definitely ate WAY too much. It was so worth it.
We walked out of the restaurant and literally just walked all the way around the World Showcase. I was so full that I needed to walk it off.
April 9th, 2013 (Part 2) - Our Father Daughter Magic Kingdom Night!
My Dad loved these topiaries so the pictures were a must.
We left Epcot after that and went up to the monorails... however, they were not working. So instead they sent us a bus to the TTC and then we walked back to the Polynesian from there!
When we got back to the room, I typed up my day thus far. Then suddenly I was passed out asleep! I didnt wake back up until 6:15 pm. Then Dad and I decided we wanted to go over to Magic Kingdom for the night! We casually walked to the Grand Ceremonial House, caught the monorail, and it dropped us off right at our destination. LIFE IS TOO COOL. Why dont I always have monorail transportation for everywhere I go?
The first thing we did when we got to Magic Kingdom was WALK RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF MAIN STREET USA! But thats no surprise.
We took a right and went into Tomorrowland! Our first stop was getting Buzz Lightyear fastpasses. The line was only 15 minutes but we wanted to go on Space Mountain first, so we figured the timing would work out perfectly!
We didnt have a long wait for Space Mountain AT ALL and we saw my roommate, Maria, right before the seat belt check! HI MARIA!
I sat in the very back row and Dad was in front of me. It was such a fun ride! Dad hasnt been on it in so long so he was happy to be back! Get ready for some fantastic ride pictures tonight.
From there we went on the PeopleMover because thats a classic! Its always so relaxing, the breeze is so nice, and I just love going through Tomorrowland. I will always be in love with the PeopleMover.
Then it was time for Buzz Lightyear! I love that we are making the exact same concentrated face in this picture.
Then Dad grabbed some Disney popcorn! He had been craving it all trip.
Then it was time to take Dad to see NEW FANTASYLAND! He hasnt seen any of it yet so he was super excited! I couldn't wait to show him to show him! We went into Storybook Gifts and looked around for a bit!
Dad also wanted to go on Dumbo! We have so many memories from my childhood there so it was about time that we went on again! He was so impressed that there were now two Dumbos, that they were redone, and that they have the whole new fastpass/playground system! Disney is on top of things.
I posted on twitter: It's so precious when my Dad mentions wanting to go on rides like Dumbo and the Carousel. #childhoodmemories
We sat in the blue Dumbo and had a lovely ride over New Fantasyland!
From there we went and explored the Beauty and the Beast section of New Fantasyland as well as the Little Mermaid section! The ride was a WALK ON because Magic Kingdom was completely deserted this night for some reason. It was GREAT! I used to be OBSESSED with The Little Mermaid when I was 5 years old so Dad really loved the ride. What great memories!
Then Dad wanted to go on Splash Mountain! I wasnt going to argue with that one, so we headed to Frontierland. There was NO line for Splash Mountain. At all. We walked up and went right in the front row of the log. My Dad couldn't have been happier.
Our ride picture was FANTASTIC so Dad ended up buying it. We ended up making the same face AGAIN. He wanted to get a print out so he could frame it and put it in his office! How nice. The prints also come with digital downloads now so that works out for EVERYBODY! I was happy, he was happy... YAY DISNEY.
Then we grabbed one last ride on the wildest ride in the wilderness! We were in the front of the last car of our train. It was a crazy ride!
After that we fought the parade crowds all the way out of Magic Kingdom. Celebrate the Magic was going on while we were leaving and I AM JUST IN LOVE WITH THE SOUNDTRACK. I need to go back and see that soon. It has been way too long.
We hopped right on the monorail and it dropped us back at the Polynesian because LIFE IS PERFECT. We got back just in time for Wishes so we went down to the beach to watch them! Its SUCH a hidden gem to watch the fireworks on the Poly beach. I mean, I know its kind of a common thing but I have never done it before. I really enjoyed seeing the fireworks from that view.
Then we went into Captain Cooks and got sushi for our late dinner. I LOVE LOVE LOVE sushi! I got the spicy shrimp roll tonight and that was fantastic. I also love sushi because its really light! Even though I felt ridiculously stuffed from Le Cellier all day, eating sushi didnt make me go over my limit. It was just the right amount to fill that bit of hunger that I had.
I posted on twitter: Sushi is my obsession. I just don't even know.
After that we went back up to the room and went to sleep before our last full day at the Polynesian. WAHHH!
jess that's so awesome it looks like u got a pretty cool dad. I think maybe I'll book a fishing trip with my daughter for October ,looks like alot of fun.
It all looks so fun.
I love the pic of you on the monorail, wearing the epcot/monorail shirt. That's perfect!
Also, What a perfect pic of you and your dad on Splash Mountain! You can crop out the people on top and it is just perfect. What a great memory to have.
Love the updates from your father-daughter trip. I've taken a couple trips to Disney World (and one to Disneyland!) with my dad and have a lot of great memories.
I have to ask, does your Dad have some connection to Milwaukee (or maybe he is just a Brewer fan?)? I am from Milwaukee and love that he is wearing a Brewers shirt. They are not a big name team so I was just curious.
So I'm just now catching up, and can I say I am so excited to read a DCP Trip Report?! Even though I don't have a big following like you, I was thinking about doing one so I have an online journal of everything that happened! I'll be there in the fall, I check in four days before you leave
I've enjoyed your blogging about DCP. You are a talented writer! And I had no idea DCP was so incredible! Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading more
Your reports are so addicting. I am now trying to figure out how to get Cheddar Cheese soup and Pretzel bread without an ADR next month...it looks so amazing!
YOU AND YOUR DAD ARE SOOO CUTE. That picture of you guys on Buzz should be immortalized in the Disney Ride Photo Hall of Fame if that ever exists. What frumps!!!!
Your fishing trip looks so fun! My dad would love that. I also love the picture of you with the fish! Haha. Y'all's ride pictures are GREAT, it looks like you had so much fun with your dad! I need to plan a trip with mine.
