Just curious - I've seen several posts on the regular resorts board that talk about people being upgraded to a better room when they arrive at a WDW resort. Has anyone been upgraded if they were using DVC points for their stay?
Also - I know many folks don't feel Disney Collection resorts are a good use of points, but I'm going with just my 2 oldest boys in December and they really want to stay on the monorail. I've heard lots of things about Concierge rooms. Would it be worth the extra points for just me and 2 boys? Or are the services more worthwhile for adults?

Well, one of the concierge services is food, and I believe that can be an issue with older boys!

Other threads indicate that the Polynesian may have the best concierge food, and I can vouch for that. You won't get three meals a day, but you will get free breakfast, free bottled water and soda all day long, and various snacks, appetizers and desserts at designated times. My wife and I got by on the evening appetizers a couple times after a big lunch.

BTW being "upgraded" to concierge is rare, and should not be anticipated. It happened to me once at the Dolphin, but that's because I checked in at midnight and it was all they had left!

We stayed at the GF last December and got a lagoon view rather than a garden view. We were very happy and surprised.

But now that there are different levels for the different views with points, I just don't know if they'll do upgrades anymore...

IMO, The Disney Collection is not "the best" use of points, but not a terrible deal either.

I just booked (for my Jan/Feb '03 trip), 3 nights Poly Concierge, followed by 4 nights VWL 1br. The Poly Concierge cost me 190 points...50 per weeknight, and 90 for a weekend night.

On the surface, this seems like alot, but I figure my points to be worth approximately $5.55/pt. This would bring my average night cash equivelent (one weekend night included) to $351.50...NO TAX! This does not seem to be an unreasonable price for Poly Concierge.

BTW, if I factor out the weekend, it would only be $277.50/night.
