Per DVCMember.com,
Disney Collection adds more options
The Disney Collection has officially expanded, adding six Walt Disney World Resorts to Members’ menu of options.

The new additions include Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and traditional hotel rooms at five resorts in the Disney Vacation Club neighborhood – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Updated points charts are available here on DVCMember.com.

Interesting. I am interested in Concierge level at some of those if that level is available.

So I read on FB that AoA is showing at 41 points a night -- yikes! I can see when/ if we go there it will be a brief cash visit.

Points requirements are high. BWI goes from 41 to 78 points for a standard view. Over twice a studio. AoA family suite goes from 30 to 59. Plus the $95 fee. Nice to have as a backup if for example you cancel a cruise.

Club level is available.

Aside from the possible addition of Disney's Art of Animation, to me, these added options are neither a perk nor value. The newly presented options truly require a significant number of points.

I acknowledge that this is my opinion, but the only potential values, to us, in the Disney Collection are the standard and garden rooms at the moderate resorts during off peak seasons. It is possible to book Port Orleans, for example, for 8 days and 7 nights and spend less than 150 points.

I wonder if it wasn't a way to sell points. People now have a lot of options. Granted, we all realize how high those points are per night but someone who wants to stay at AOA, can become a DVC owner and do so...

After reading your reply, I could not help but wonder if the expanded options were driven more by members or potential members. From a membership standpoint, perhaps the demand for certain resorts is so great that it is a viable option to reduce complaints. VGC was removed from the Disney Collection only to be reinstated after owners had difficulty booking their home resort. Alternatively, perhaps Disney will be able to entice people with a stay anywhere campaign that manages to avoid the significant point differences.

I do hope that Dean reads this post because I would be very interested in hearing his system perspective on this announcement.
