Hey folks. I'm reading some of the fine print in the DVC 'Dreams' book we received from our Guide last week. Need clarification on one point.

"Members may not book and travel on The Disney Collection vacations within the last 60 days of their Use Year."

Does this mean members cannot "combine" booking AND traveling within 60 days of the end of their UY? Members can still book a stay at a Disney Collection resort for any date within 2 months of the end of their UY as long as they call and "book" it prior to 2 months from the end of the UY, right?

Thanks
Jim

That is right. The reason for the rule is that Disney would have a very hard time turning around a DVC villa if one could book The Disney Collection, thus turning in their vacation points for reservation points, and travel within 60 days of the end of their UY.

Thanks for the response wildernessDad, but I'm afraid I don't understand your answer..., do you mean, "that's right", you cannot "combine" booking and traveling within the last 60 day period of your UY, or do you mean, "that's right", you can still book a vacation at a non DVC Disney resort for a date falling within the last 2 months of your UY as long as the date you actually pick up the phone and call is PRIOR to being 60 days from UY end?

I guess what I'm trying to confirm is, this rule sounds to me like I can NEVER, EVER under any circumstances, choose to stay in a Disney Collection resort during the last two months of my UY, for the 50 years of our membership.

While I agree there are plenty of DVC resorts to choose from, other than your Home Resort, I think this rule stinks and further limits your options if your last two months fall during the times when you will most visit WDW for the next 50 years, particularly if your last 2 months are Nov. and Dec. which means you are blocked from all these other potential resorts for Thanksgiving and Christmas when it can be much more difficult finding availability at the much lower room count DVC resorts.

Thanks again for the info., I appreciate it.

Both of your statements are correct: You cannot book and stay at a Disney collection resort within the last 60 days of your use year.

You can book prior to the 60 days from end of UY for a reservation that falls within the last 60 days.

Whew! Glad to hear it..., I thought we were NEVER going to be allowed to book a stay at any Disney Collection resort for the months of April/May, and who knows what circumstances might present themselves during the course of the next 50 years..., we might wish to stay at the Poly or GF some day during those months. For me anyway, more options is always better.

Thanks both of you for replying.
