Disney cm killed by parade float

How Terrible!!! I wonder if he was in his Pluto costume at the time. I hope no children witnessed it.:(

I think it is terrible, any accident is, certainly resulting in injury or death is terrible. From a realistic viewpoint, I think we need to realize that WDW is a huge, working operation, with many thousands of employees, and many more tens of thousands of customers, operating 365 days a year. And, though we all like to think it is the land of magic and dreams (it is), it also is a very real, everyday workplace, and accidents, unfortunately, do happen in the workplace, oftentimes with deadly results. Hopefully, we/they all learn from those accidents and they don't happen again. But accidents will always happen, and while we all are saddened by the event, we do have to understand that WDW is not insulated from reality.

Just my thoughts and not meant to minimize the saddness and magnitude of this tragedy on his family, fellow CM's and all of us who so dearly love that which brought us all together here.

Here is a little more news from this AM.

That is so awful! I hope no guests saw this accident. This has certainly been a bad year for Disney, remember the accident back in the summer @ D'land with Splash Mountain. It seems like - when it rains it pours. My thoughts & prayers are with those 2 children who just lost their Daddy:(

Yes it was <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_5.gif' border=0></a> I caught that AFTER I posted. Went and read a few differnet accounts of the story. Thanks for the link Dan Murphy

He was in his Pluto costume. The local news said something about his foot (Pluto foot remember) getting caught.

It was during the getting ready phase near Splash Mountain. Supposedly no one saw it. Went to MK the next day, Thursday, and everything was normal. Thought flags would be at half staff or black ribbons or cancelled parade for a day, but it was VERY transparent to guests!

I was in MK on Wed. I noticed nothing out of normal other than MK was almost deserted in crowding. I didn't watch parade.

We noticed the helicopters a little on Thursday. I have pictures of the parade from Sunday. It's so hard to believe that something like this could happen.
