I may be in the minority here, but I actually like the Disney Visa. I never (or very rarely) shop at the DS, so the Disney Club discounts didn't do me any good. My brother now belongs to DVC, and we stay using his points, so we don't need room discounts. I couldn't justify an annual membership to the Disney Club. Someone in our group had an AMEX card, which usually offered the same discounts on merchandise purchases at the big
Disney Store that the Club membership did. That's the only thing we've lost (since they ended their partnership with AMEX). We also get some dining discounts now with my brother's DVC membership.
We use our Disney Visa for everything--groceries, gas, you name it. We pay the bill off every month when it comes. So far we have 27 DDRD.
I know it's unfair that not everyone can get the Disney Visa. But for me, personally, it's better than a Disney Club membership.
When they first came out with them in March, there was a big discussion about credit cards that offer rewards. There are probably some out there that are "better" than the Disney Visa with the % back on purchases. But since we were previously using the LLBean Visa that only offered 0.5% back as LLBean coupons, the 1% in DDRD didn't sound too bad to me. And we don't fly, so the cards offering airmiles weren't any good for us either. And the AMEX card just confused me with their tiers of reward %.
So far I'm happy with it. But then I haven't tried to cash in for my certs/cards yet and try to use them.
Just my opinion....
