Last weekend, we were getting our son's Halloween costume (pooh bear), purchasing and annual pass and used our Disney Club card for the last time before it expired at the end of August.

We commented "well that's the end of our discount". And the cast member said "have you looked in to the visa card?" My husband said "who needs another credit card at a high interest rate?" So the cast member said "well watch for something new to be released soon."

Now, I'm just repeating her words. I have no idea if this has any truth or if she was just trying to speculate on possible alternatives to DC just to make us feel better.

I sure hope they come out with something else! I REFUSE to sign up for another credit card just to get their discounts. I would, however, be willing to pay a small fee, like we were required to do with the Disney Club. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I hope they come up with something as well. I had the club for 2 years and it was well worth it.

Have you tried calling the Disney Club?

You might be able to extend your membership until the end of the year for a few dollars.

It can't hurt to try...... :)

Yes you can extend to the end of the year, we did just that this past may when ours would have expired. :)

I do have the Disney Visa, and I love it, but I am also going to miss my Disney Club card. I have saved tons of money with it, and it's been a great perk. I have earned more rewards with my Disney Visa than I ever thought I would, so I'm quite pleased with it as well.

I recently extended my membership though the end of the year and with my new card came a letter...this is what is at the end of the letter...

"Your benefits from The Disney Club continue until December 31, 2003. Although we are closing The Disney Club at the end of 2003, we will continue to bring you new ways of connecting to the Magic of Disney and will be in touch with you as exciting new opportunities develop."

Hopefully it's not an invitation for a Visa card, lol!

A few months ago I called the Disney Club in order to get a physical address to send a complaint about the club being discontinued. The wonderful cast member that I spoke to told me that there have been so many complaints, that Disney is probably going to offer something similar to the Disney Club in the future. I don't know why they just didn't reverse their decision. The manager of my local Disney Store told me the same thing.

The Disney Visa cannot compare with the savings that was available with the Disney Club. Only getting one percent back in rewards and an annual cap of $750 in rewards is nothing compared to the thousands of dollars I save yearly through the Disney Catalog with the card. I have a BankOne Visa and asked before the official roll-out of the card if it could "become" a Disney Visa account. I was told yes, after the specific release date for the card. I never called back because I don't want Disney to see what a success their new card is and use that information to validate ending the Disney Club. I know because of one person they aren't going to change things, but it's the principle of matter.

Interesting question. I spoke with a Disney Club supervisor last night about an unrelated topic and I said how much I'll miss the DC card. She said that there were SO many complaints from DC card holders about a lack of room discounts that Disney said fine, here's a VISA card and it will benefit Disney a lot more than the DC card did. I wasn't sure that I understood correctly and asked, "are you saying that Disney Club card holders complained about the discounts at WDW?" She said they were vitually inundated with "I want more rooms available at DC prices. I want more restaurants included..." She as much as said, 'you all complained so much that Disney just didn't think it was worth it anymore.' I specifically asked her if anything is replacing the DC. She said, "It already has and it's the Disney VISA card. Nothing else is being talked of at this time." Just passing on what I was told. Threehearts
