I keep reading about this tournament and I'm just wondering how crowded it really gets. We're planning to be in WDW from Thurs. Oct. 17th until Sun. Oct. 26th...the Golf Tournament begins on Fri. the 24th. Are the parks significantly affected by the crowds from this tournament & if so just how crowded does it get & when? We're use to July/August crowds...would it be comparable to summer crowds, more crowded, less crowded? Anything less than summer crowds (& cooler temperatures) will be a bonus to us...just wondering what to expect. Thanks.

Although we've never been at this time, everything I've heard and read seems to suggest that the golf tournament has little effect on crowds. Anyone who's been-true or not?

If you are used to July/August you'll have no complaints I'm sure. The one thing I did notice was the attractions geared toward the younger visiter was signicantly more crowded than the rest of the park at MK (ie. Snow White, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pooh) I guess basically Fantasyland.

DH & I were there that week last year and although I am probably not the best judge, I would say it is definitely crowded. The reason I say I may not be the best judge is because we normally go the 2nd week in September and it's DEAD so anything more than that would be considered crowded to me. To give you a better idea, we had the following wait times (approximate):

ToT - 45 minutes
RR - 60 minutes
Haunted House - 45 minutes
Safari - 60 minutes

I hope this helps... somewhat.

My parents are really into watching golf on television. Last year, during the Disney golf tournament, my mother would call and tell me to watch so DD could see WDW. The MK was shown on a regular basis from the blimp and it looked really crowded. I heard an announcer say that a lot of golf players brought their families with them when they played at WDW so their families could tour WDW while they played.

I would just try and avoid MK on Friday and Saturday of that weekend. I didn't see a picture of MK on Sunday so I couldn't tell you how busy it was.

We were there in 2001 and it was a little busy. But it was also the start of the Food and Wine. That's the trip where we were sitting down by Caseys and turned around and OJ Simpson was standing behind us with about 5 bodygaurds.

It sounds like it is much less crowded than we're used to in July & August so that's great. I certainly wouldn't want to pull my DD (11th Grade) out of school for a week to face the same crowds as we face in the summer (we know the weather can be "iffy" but we definitely want "a few less people" in the parks than we usually face to make it worth our while...it's a surprise 16th birthday trip for DD).

tinkerbee...that's so cool - it would be so exciting to see someone famous at WDW (or anywhere else for that matter).

Hope it addresses your concerns as well lisareneeo. Thanks for all the replies everyone.
