Disney Christmas Surpise countdown 7 days!

Last year we took a last minute trip to Disney this time of the year. We were there less than 72 hours and had a blast.

A few days ago we found $40 flights and we couldn't pass it up.

We want to surprise DS again, who is 10. We leave in the afternoon, so I am thinking about having him do chores around the house and think it's just a normal day until....

We hear lingle bells at the front door and find tickets left by Santa?

Give me your best suprise ideas...


Last time we made it almost to the airport before we let out the surprise, this year I want to tell him at home with everything packed and ready to go 5 minutes before we leave the house...

I am doing the same thing in 15 days for DS7. Last year I did this for my other son for an Easter trip and had him do a clued egg hunt in which the last egg held his Disneyland ticket. He was thrilled.

This time I have assembled a goody bag of Disney stuff - including a Cars travel kit I found at Target. Our flight leaves early so I will have to wake him up and will tell him when we get to the airport by giving him his goody bag. I like your idea - that will defintely surprise him.

we never attempted the surprise because i have just heard to many stories of it not going over well... kids upset about school, pets, leaving home, if they've got eveything they want packed... AND we enjoy planning our trips as a family.

But last year at Christmas we went last minute so DH and I kept it a secret. We woke him up early and told him we were doing weird shopping sales like black friday, but would see santa that day. When we got to the airport he wanted to know why santa was at the airport. we told him and he had the most darling reaction... all i had was him on my phone and so wished i'd have used the good camera to video tape him!

so this year I just want to be all packed and tell him 5 minutes before we leave, but do it at the house so I can get good video! IF DH and I can quit talking about the trip and don't give it away (we are so excited).
