Disney Chase Visa worth it?

My wife and I are booked for our first, but not last, visit at the end of June. I'm just learning about the Disney Visa through Chase. We do not have any type of rewards card. This looks like, at least on the surface, a good way to earn points for our Disney vacations, get some discounts (25% at BC; does that include BCVillas?), and spread our vacation cost over the year.

Your input will be greatly appreciated. 100 days and counting.

I like my card and use it in retail locations and to charge some of my "regular monthly bills". The primary reason that I got it was the incentive that they were offering at the time which was 200 points once charging X amount, I think it was fifty dollars. It was free money for Disney that year. We don't go very often so its nice to build a balance and then cash in on the rewards when we are ready to head back to the world.

One year I even ordered up a gift card to give to my folks who were headed down for Marathon Weekend. Easy Christmas gift that I technically didn't spend any money on and let them have a nice meal on property.

It's been well worth it for us. We try to put as much on the card as we can, pay it off each month, and we've managed to build up fairly nice reward balances. It really comes down to whether or not you think you will earn (and use) enough disney dollars to overcome the annual fee.

Thank you for the quick responses. Premier vs Rewards? Obviously the annul fee is a major difference. Can you begin with a Rewards and upgrade later? I've checked out all the info on the website, so I'm looking for personal experiences.

I've been using mine for years and we love the rewards dollars. I started with the regular card and upgraded to the premier when that was available. We use our card for all purchases and pay off every month. We accrue rewards much faster with the premier than we did with the regular card. This month will be my 3rd time buying annual passes with my rewards dollars. They should pay for about 3/4 of the cost.

I'm very curious on this too. My husband received an offer in the mail yesterday if he opens it and spends $500 in the first 3 months he gets a $200 Disney gift card. I'm trying to convince him to open it and add me as an authorized user.

We have been using the Disney Visa card for a few years and also upgraded to Premier when it became available. We use it for as much as we can each month and then pay it off. we use it at Supermarkets, Gas stations, prescriptions, all store purchases. It takes no time to add up, we then put on our rewards card before we go and it pays for food, gifts etc. at Disney World.

We've had the Disney Chase Visa for years. We put a lot on it but always pay it off each month. In the past we have used our rewards for park passes but we are DVC Members and now use it towards our annual dues. It really does help. We were just talking about upgrading to premiere but haven't sat down to read the fine print. Not sure if it's worth the added cost.

Any rewards card is only going to be worth it if you pay it in full every month. Judging by OPs initial post it sounds like that may not be the case. You will spend way more in interest than you will earn in rewards.

That said, I have had both and use them regularly. I usually end up using the points for food and/or souvenirs.

Won't work for this trip probably, but you also get 6 months interest free when booking disney vacations. I've never personally done it though.

We have the regular Disney visa. It's our only active credit card. Used for gas, groceries really anything and everything. We use the rewards dollars for CS food in the parks *(feels like we are eating for free!) We pay it off every month.

In 2011 we bought tickets for MVMCP for our family of 6 Disney adults with our points.

Right now we have over 750 points with no trip insight. With the expenses we've had lately we just might have enough points to pay for our next trip in points. Lol

:) Yes, we love our Disney Card and use it all the time. We eat at the California Grill and spend our rewards dollars there. My MIL and BIL buy their park tickets. I think if you go to Disney annually, it is worth it. We have the Premier.

Yep. I had the basic card and when I applied for the Premier card I got that deal. So I have that $200 plus almost $1000 I earned throughout the year so my family of 5's 2-day tickets are paid for plus I will have $200 to spend on food/snacks in the parks. Woot!!

I also have a rewards card from Bank of America that I only use for gas. It gives me 3% on gas where Disney only gives 2%. So I earned money from that one too which came in the form of a check. :)

i put everything I can on my cards. I just have the rule that I have to pay them off every month. My sister can put her mortgage on her Royal Caribbean card but my mortgage holder is my local bank and they want it coming directly from my account. Bummer cause that would be even more. lol

Are you getting that from what I bolded in their post? I took that to mean that they didn't have any REWARD cards, not that they didn't have credit cards. ??

I get better rewards with my Amex Preferred Cash, so I don't use my Disney Visa much, but I do have the no-fee Disney Chase Visa because I like having a Disney card in my wallet and it gets me emails about hotel discounts before they go on sale to the general public. I think having the no-fee version is worth it for that. Plus, not everyone takes AmEx, so it's good to have a Visa backup.

Can't quote quotes, sorry...

OP said it'd "be a good way to spread out paying for a vacation over a year" (or something like that, having scrolling problems at the moment).

One way that could be taken is that they will book the vacation and then just pay minimum amounts over the course of the year. The interest accrued would not be worth earning 1% in Disney rewards.

If it just means that they'll earn vacation money over the course of a year, then a rewards card makes sense.

Oh, gotcha.

I know it works for a cruise and "thought" it worked for any Disney vacation but I think when you use your card to pay for WDW vacation you get six months to pay for it. Earning points and getting the payment spread out is a good deal. It's not a year though.

oh and wanted to say to OP or anyone else who is interested...

I really think if you don't have either and want to decide on one, the premier card is well worth the fee per year. I think the fee is like $50? Since food (and that includes purchases from my superwalmart which is where I do the bulk of my shopping), fuel and restaurant purchases earn 2% instead of 1%, that can be a significant number. For us, just the food alone earns me at least an extra $130 a year.

It is a good deal if you pay it off each month.

Now if you want to take advantage of the no interest on Disney vacation, then that is only good for 6 months not a year.

Hi!:)
I just received the code for the visa and it sounds interesting! However, Let's say that I take advantage of the 200$ off of the bill, will I be able to combine the offer with a future offer like free dining?
