On average everyday? I want to make my dd an autograph book. My sister and brother in law have both been to disney already. They like to try and kill my disney excitment!! They said dont bother to waste time making a book because you are lucky if you see 5 on any given day. We are staying for a week. I wanted to make one that has the characters she wants to meet on the page. I read the kids get more attention that way. I certainly didnt expect in that 7 day time span to see every disney character known to man :rotfl2: Thanks

It depends how hard you try - but if you go to Toontown Fair and go to the character locations there, you will see more than 5 characters straight off! :) We saw Cinderella and her mice in the Princess room, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore in the 100 Acre Pals room and Mickey by himself in the Judge's Tent! ;)

DD's autograph book was full and we didn't really hunt the characters down - we just "met" them on our travels! We still have lots to find this time around, too! :teeth:

As long as your DD isn't afraid of the characters, I'd let her do it if she wants - kids love it!

Thanks. They just love to "try" and zap my excitement. Im driving them nuts (so they say) because of all my talk and stuff about our trip thats 8 months away. Well its my first time there!

My DD isnt scared of them. She's 10 lol. We will be there for 7 days...there are 4 parks. I told my sister already I wanted to use one day to hunt down characters ahha

I got around 100 when I was last there, but I do keep a sharpe eye out for them. One sure way of seeing them is to go to a character meal

First trip: 5 park days, plus MVMCP, and 2 princess meals - we found 50 different characters.

Second trip: 10 park days, plus MNSSHP, and 4 character meals (no new characters for us though) - we found 52 different characters that we didn't find on our first trip.

And we still haven't found all of the ones that are out on a somewhat regular basis. :)

The site DiznEeyore gave has been the biggest help to us! :)

The characters do seem to like our homemade book.

There were 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale, & Donald) area at the Character Connection at Epcot. They have photo pass photographers here to take your pictures with the characters. They sometimes had extra in the hallway where you could get your own pictures & autographs. We stopped back on our way into & out of Epcot a couple different times. The extras we saw were Goofy, Max, Rafiki, Gideon (from Pinocchio), and Pinocchio. We stopped by three times I think.

I understand that you can stop by guest relations and find out when & where characters can be found during the day. How many you see really depends on whether you are "looking" for them. We see lots every year. Sometimes, we stand in line (usually only 10 people in front of us) and sometimes we don't. How long you wait probably depends on how busy the parks are as well. We go the 1st week of March.

Gina: Don't let them rain on your parade!! Here's a great site to see which characters you're likely to come across and where:

Have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

Thank you!!!.. I have a little spiral of index cards and I have noted the characters we would like to find and places we might find them so when we go next week we can keep an eye out.. The characters are part of the magic for DD8..

Thanks again

my dd ended up with somewhere around 50 autographs...... i thought that was pretty cool!!! she even got 2 ive never heard of.... kim possibal and ron stoppable?? i guess there new... vicki

kim possible and ron stoppable are from a cartoon on the disney channel called Kim Possible. My dd hopes that she gets to see them. :)

Thank you everyone for your replies. My dd and I sat and looked at all the characters on the site DiznEeyore posted. We made a list of the ones she really wants to see. We will then make an autograph book for those characters with some extra pages for others of course. :) Im glad I have DIS to talk about my Disney obsession since I keep getting told at home how Im driving them all crazy.

I am going to make my DD autograph pages for her 7th birthday trip. I purchased blank 4x6 index cards at Staples to use. They will fit nicely in a photo album with photos of DD with the character. I purchased a small clipboard at Walmart for around $1 to give the characters something to sign on.

I was also wondering if you take index cards, do the characters need something sturdy to sign the cards on, or are they prepared for this? So many questions, so much fun!!

I think they need something to sign on. It is hard enough to sign with those big hands. I suppose if you had a stack of cards they could use that but I think the clipboard will be easier.

We are celebrating my DD's 7th birthday so I think I'll print that on the top of the cards and from an idea I got here on the Dis I'm going to put coloring book images in one corner. I know lots of folks here do clip art images of the characters. I've done stickers of the characters-even in the park autograph books. I was going to print them 2 to a page on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock and cut them to 6 x 5 1/2 using the extra 1 1/2 inches to hole punch them and put a ring on then cut the holes off when we got home. But I think buying the 4x6 cards will be a lot easier. BUT...I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if the cards will feed well in my printer OR how the coloring book images will look so small.

If you make NO extra effort at all, I think 5-8 may be about right. We just went through the parks and when we came across a character or two, we felt lucky. We weren't trying to make an autograph book. We just got a few cute pics. Of course, the one character meal we attended bumped up the number that we met.

The only time we were disappointed was when DS missed Captain Hook, his favorite. By chance, we ran into an area where he was meeting folks. We waited in line and then the CM said that Cpt. Hook needed a break (maybe he needed to go to the bathroom ;) and he would be back in 10 minutes. Knowing that we couldn't just stand there for 10 minutes and in line again, we looked at our watch and did something or other that took 10 minutes. When we returned, Cpt. Hook was there but was ready to leave. I did explain that we were waiting before and came back when the CM said, but apparently they have a strict schedule and he couldn't even let DS give him a quick hug (yes, he wanted to hug Cpt. Hook). I understand that they have to follow their rules and thier schedule and a quick hug from my son may have caused a line to form--rules are rules. It just made me so sad as that was really the only character he wanted to meet and he came SO close. :(

This year he is over Cpt. Hook and likes Donald Duck. I will definitely seek out where he will be for a meet and greet! Not sure if Donald is at any of the character meals.

To the OP, I hope you fill up that autograph book. It will be a treasure.

Donald has a breakfast at AK. It gets mixed reviews but I'm anxious to give it a try.

I think he may also be at Chef Mickey's.

Thanks, Dizneeyore!! :cloud9: Bettyann29, hope you find lots of characters! We met 150 different ones over our last many trips! Some characters are special events only and some are just very rare, but usually on any park day, there are always some out and about. :) If you know where they tend to pop up, then it gets easy to find bunches of them on your trip! The most we found on one trip was 75 different characters, and this does not include meeting the same character twice! :teeth:

Some little character finding tips are:

Characters tend to be most frequent in the mornings to early afternoon, before the parade. Before and right after parades, many characters are not out since they perform in the parade. The later afternoon has less characters out and about, and evenings and nights has very few, though this is not set in stone.

Characters sometimes meet for a half hour, then disappear for roughly a half hour or so, then come out again. So if you pass through an area and see no characters, there could be some later on. :)

Some of the larger character gathering areas have characters rotating every half hour or so. The courtyard after entering Magic Kingdom can be like this. You may see some characters when you 1st walk by, and if you walk by roughly a half hour later, there could be some different ones out, though they could be all the same - you never know! The entrance to Animal Kingdom can be like this, too. And the Big Hat area at MGM, though I have not watched this spot on recent trips. :)

Rainy days are terrible for characters! Some meet inside buildings instead, but there just seems to be less in bad weather. Too hot weather also limits characters.

You WILL get more than 5 characters a day!!!! Like another poster said, just going to the ToonTown Hall of Fame/County Bounty building and getting into the three character meeting lines will give you probably 9 characters right there! Have a great time on your trip!!!! :)

Donald Duck can be found sometimes at the Character Connection in EPCOT, outside his trailer at MGM (near Millionaire), and at "his" breakfast at AK. These are the places we have seen him in recent months.

On one Monday afternoon DD and I went to MK after I picked her up at school and in a short time we had gotten autographs or saw (didn't need the character):
Town Center
Robin Hood and Little John
Prince John and Friar Tuck
Goofy and Max
Gideon
Pinocchio & Gepetto (we didn't get them - we already had them)
Suzy and Perla (same as above)

Then in Adventureland across from POC
Wendy and Peter Pan
Captain Hook and Mr Smee

Adventureland near Magic Carpets
Jasmine and Aladdin (we saw them already)

On that same day Mickey and Minne were outside just as you came in through the turnstiles before you walked through the train station...

So that's 19...... all between 4pm and 8pm when the "retired" for the night!

OHHH!!!! I am so envious!! I would love to just strut into Magic Kingdom and meet some characters, like an after-school activity!! To be local!! :teeth:

Also - did you meet Prince Phillip, or did you mean Prince John?? I would be very surprised to find Prince Phillip there!! (without Aurora, too!). And Prince Phillip with Friar Tuck would be an odd combination, but it could happen - I seen stranger ones!! :teeth:
