I thought it would be interesting to see which characters (chosen by the DISers) are braver, nicer, etc. than other characters. I guess you could consider this somewhat of a game.

Here's how it basically works:

1. I name two characters that will be debated against each other.
2. Anyone who responds chooses one character (EX: Roger Radcliffe vs. Pongo- who is the better character?) for a side. If I were to choose Pongo, I would then write down reasons why, what the character has done, etc.
3. I will choose someone to choose a winner.
4. When a winner is chosen, there will be a new character debate.
5. A new friendly debate will start.

Rules:

1. NO BULLYING! I can't stress this enough. Everyone has their own opinions, so please don't downgrade someone for it.

2. BE POLITE! This kind of goes with the no bullying rule. Please once again respect that everyone has their own opinions, so it isn't fair to them if you look down on it.

3. CHOOSE ONLY ONE CHARACTER TO DEFEND! Please do not change your character or side, because it will confuse a lot of people.

4. HAVE FUN! This is supposed to be a friendly debate between other people. Do not make it personal, or get into arguments that may destroy the purpose of the debate.

Since that's all, here is the first character debate!

John Smith vs. Flynn Rider- Who is braver?

Again, this is supposed to be FUN.

So like this?

Rider, because he went to rescue Rapunzel and risked his life to save her's, and he never seemed to back out of things when thieving :)

EDIT: I agree with ginnygi. Frying pan :D

Flynn Rider.

John Smith had a gun. Flynn Rider only had a frying pan and his dashing good looks.

Exactly! You can also elaborate on that later if you'd like. :)

EDIT: Also, these are all really great!

I actually think John Smith, because he was almost killed by the Native Americans and he got himself into a dangerous situation out of his love for Pocahontas, going against his people by seeing her and listening to her beliefs.

EDIT: Also, John Smith dove in front of Pocahontas's father, even after he almost had Smith killed, and caught a bullet from his own kind to save the chief, nearly dying out of love and respect for Pocahontas and her tribe.

(Sorry if this is worded weird, I had it right in my head but it came out weird on here :rotfl2:)

REMINDER!

The debate between these two characters doesn't end until the 4th of July. You still have time to elaborate on your case.
The more facts you have, the easier it is for your case to win. Another helpful tip for the debaters, try to make sure to find cons with the other team for your character to win.

It's fine. I totally understood.

I think Flynn Rider was braver. Near the end, when he got stabbed, Rapunzel could have saved him with her magic hair, but he didn't want her to be Gothel's slave, so he cut off her hair, even though it meant him dying.

You still have time to elaborate on your piece. It doesn't end until later today, but it's winding down to the winner.

Okay! We have a winner!

Our winner is...Flynn Rider!

Flynn- Pros: He gave up his life for Rapunzel and prevented her from being Gothel's slave.
Cons: He was a thief.

John Smith- Pros: He went up against everyone because he loved Pocahontas and he jumped in the water to save a young man on the way to Jamestown.
Cons: John Smith used a gun.

REMINDER! You can use pros and cons in each piece for a side in your debate. Just make sure you don't use it rudely.

Now, here is the next debate category. You have until July 6th to present your piece and defend your side.

Queen Narissa (Enchanted) vs. Maleficent - Best Transformation?

Narcissa because 1) magic that takes place outside of cartoon land is more impressive and 2) she kidnaps the dude and has to be beat by a girl and everyone knows fighting girls is way more difficult than fighting boys.

Transformation wise, Maleficent. She has full-fledged metamorphosis where she can turn into whatever she wants, if you go with the knowledge from Sleeping Beauty and Kingdom Keepers. We can't assume that about Narcissa because we only see her in her normal state, as a hag, and as a dragon.

The transformation of Narissa was based on Maleficent so my vote is for Maleficent.

Malificent, because she can transform into anything, and honestly Narissa simply bugs me. A lame reason for Malificent but that's all I got :)

We have a landslide winner! I wonder who it is?

The winner is...MALEFICENT!

Maleficent: Pros- Can change into anything, was the based design for Narissa.
Cons- A mere magic sword kills her

Narissa: Pros- The effects are supreme, top notch making it the best scene in the movie, was more of a challenge to fight before falling off a building
Cons- Was not the first design for a dragon.

Reminder! Feel free to argue with your opponent, just not rudely.

The Next Debate is:

Queen Grimhilde vs. Gaston- Who loves themself more?

This one is easy. Gaston. The evil queen is full of self doubt. She is paranoid of someone being more beautiful than her. She needs constant validation from the magic mirror. She goes in a rage when she feels like her supremacy is threatened. Gaston, on the other hand, is 100% confident in his supremacy. There is never a doubt in his mind that he is the absolute best at everything. He needs no verification of this.

Also evil queen bases her self love solely on outward beauty, where as Gaston loves everything about himself and his general awesomeness!

Gaston. Not only does he love his appearance like Queen Grimhilde, but he loves everything about himself, from his aim to his decorating to how in shape he is and beyond. He thinks he is always right and he always does things the right way. He thinks he's perfect. And not only does he believes these things about himself, the whole town is in on it, always telling him what a great guy he is and how amazing he is. There's an entire song about how wonderful Gaston is and all the reasons he is wonderful in the movie. An entire song! There's no song or followers telling Queen Grimhilde how great she is.

Another landslide winner Gaston!

Gaston- Pros: He admires EVERYTHING about himself, not just looks. Has an entire songe dedicated to it.
Cons: He is a little too impulsive, which makes him annoying.

Queen Grimhilde- Pros: Magic Mirror reassures her, she can always go after you. She is constantly threatened.
Cons: She has no song, so nobody to praise her. No followers other than the Mirror.

Next Debate (if you want to answer it, of course)

Mulan vs. Merida - Who can fight better?

Definitely Mulan, she saved China from the Huns! She's not only a woman back in the days of only men being allowed to fight, aside from being strong, she was also clever in the battle and able to see one step ahead, allowing her to protect herself, her friends, and her country.

Merida never even fights. She does have amazing archery skills, but she really just gets by on lots of narrow escapes. Her arrows don't phase Mordue. (I'm sure I spelled that wrong.) It was Merida's mom in her bear form and a tumbling stone thingy that saved Merida and her family from the rampaging bear.
