Disney channel games 2009 dates???

No,there isn't really any OFFICIAL new news.:) There is a new entry on Wikipidia that lists the "air" dates for DCG 2009 this Summer. It also says Fans will be able to vote on which events they would like to be in DCG 2009 starting in late February. The entry does NOT list the dates for the actual taping.I have NO idea how accurate this information is.:)

listed the teams and I find that really hard to believe! Last year "teams" were leaked and it proved to be false info. The teams that are showing on Wiki don't even make sense unless Disney is completely revising how the games are going to be played this year.

WEDWDW, keep us posted! You always seem to have the inside scoop! I looked back and saw where you had gotten unconfirmed dates around this time last year!:thumbsup2

I saw the Wikipedia entry listing the Teams also and I think it is "questionable" at best!LOL:) I "may" have some definitive information in the next few days.Hopefuly Disney will confirm the Dates much earlier than they did last year.:)

I would love to know who is going to be there to prepare autograph pages for my DS, for just in case.

He would the class hero if he got an autograph.

Hey everyone, I went to the DCgames in 07 and 08. They were both amazing experiences.
07- just went to the concert
08- went to one day of the games and the concert

I was wondering if Florida residents will have any discounts for the hotels for the week of the games, because there is one I want to stay at imparticular.

Anyways, wedwdw thanks for all the info, your a big help. :cheer2:

Hi!:) Until we get confirmed Dates for DCG 2009,there is really no way to check on discounts. There is a GREAT WDW Package being offered for most Dates through June 27 except for the week before and the week after Easter. With the 4/3 Package you pay for 4 nights lodging/tickets at WDW and you receive 3 nights lodging/tickets FREE!:)I "think" I may know which Resort you are interested in.;) :) Mousesavers does a really good job of staying on top of Resort discounts so you may want to check over there for any possible Florida Resident discounts. Also, you're welcome amd welcome to the DIS!:)

WEDWDW ... you are so knowledgable about the games. ( just curious, are you a cast member ? )

We went to the concert in 2007 and loved it. It was fairly easy to get tickets back then but I've heard that's not the case anymore.

Any tips for those of us who are not cast members or passholders to get tickets. We will be vacationing from Canada.

Also, is it worth visiting on a day when they are taping the games or is there a lot of waiting and down time.

Very true, I visited the WWOS website- their event calender, and i noticed that the 27-30 of april was open, but the 1st of may had a scheduled event. Hmm.. ANYWAYS, I am going to look into the package that you said. And yes, you're probably thinking of the right hotel.:rolleyes1 Its expensive, but I guess I will have to deal. :)
I am going to also check out the Mousesavers website, I briefly went on and it seems pretty good, I'll look around it more when dates are released :surfweb:

WED, i also have a quick question.
Last year I overheard one of the security guards talking about how they may make the games this year a ticketed event. Have you heard any word on this? :scared:

Thanks so much, and thanks for your welcoming.

That edit ^ obviously didn't work haha. I wanted to add that I can recieve PM's yet because Im a new member and I need "10" of something.
Sorry guys!:sad2:

I am not a Cast Member, but I am a HUGE Walt Disney World Fan!:) I am fortunate enough to be able to vacation there about every four months.I did not know ANYTHING about the Disney Channel Games in 2007.By coincidence,I had a trip scheduled in April of 2007 that was the same week as Disney Channel Games 2007(the second ever DCG and the first DCG at WDW).I have Family members in the targeted demographic,so the Disney Channel Games/Spring Walt Disney World Vacation has become an annual event.:) To quote Miley Cyrus, the trip is "The Best of Both Worlds"(Walt Disney World and Disney Channel).:) The Disney Channel Games Stars are so nice and friendly and it is just such a fun event.:) I really don't have any tips about DCG Concert tickets.I have been able to get them the past two years through Passholder promotions, but the General Public tickets went within SECONDS when they were made available online last year.HOWEVER,I understand that last year during DCG week, tickets that were not picked up by a certain day were made available on a first-come,first-serve basis at the Wide World of Sports ticket office.Since I already had tickets,I really do not know how that process worked.:) Just remember,at this point,we know virtually nothing about how DCG 2009 will be conducted. The only things we know are that there will be a DCG 2009,it will be held at Walt Disney World and the anticipated date is sometime in April.Whether or not you would enjoy going to a taping I think depends on how big of a Disney Channel Fan you/your Party are. There is MUCH down time.I really enjoy going to the tapings. It is a really fun atmosphere to me.They usually have huge TV screens set up in the infield where you can sit in the Stadium and watch the tapings in the outfield. The Concession Stands are also open. The DC Stars do their best to sign autographs when they are not busy(taping, going to "school",etc.)There is no charge and you can come and go as you please,so if you get bored, you just get up and leave.:)

I SERIOUSLY doubt the daily tapings will require a ticket simply because the demand for access does not warrant it.The Florida schools are still in session during the Disney Channel Games,so it is mainly Tourists who attend the daily tapings.Champion Stadium's capacity is 9,500 and I would estimate the biggest crowd I have seen at a daily taping would be "maybe" 1,000.Now the DCG Concert(if there is one)will DEFINITELY remain a ticketed(free) event. The demand for DCG Concert tickets is HUGE!:)

Yeah, I am nervous about getting tickets this year. Last year we were passholders, and this year we unfortunately are not. So im hopeing this two year tradition for me wont come to an end. I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed. :sad1:

If anyone is planning to attend the games concert with smaller children I suggest you get seats for the concert and not lawn. I had seats for the 2007 concert and lawn for the 2008 concert. Lawn, you are obviously closer (in a sense) to the stage, but in some certain cases it may not be worth it. While I was standing in the lawn area, throughout the concert Parents and their small children kept leaving (kids saying their feet hurt, i cant see, and so on), some of the parents lost their child in the crowd, or the kids were smothered just by all the people. :grouphug:

-In general, for lawn, bring tons of water. People were in need of it and people were getting heat exhaustion in what seemed as a domino effect.
I mean, a lot of people did just fine out there (including smaller children) but from what I could see, a good amount weren't doing too well. :confused3

We will be there for part of the games (..assuming they are when we all assume they will be...i'm arriving on Apr 30)... I'm hoping that I can at least score tickets to the concert somehow. Although Im not a passholder, so idk of my chances. It would be a pretty sweet 21st bday present though. Haha. If anyone has any ideas of getting some tix, lemme know please :upsidedow

Looking forward to the games again this year! :) Quick question.. We're hoping to book the 7-Day package with 3 nights free. That has to be booked by the 24th of January.. Any idea when we'll have some date confirmation? Thanks! :)

Hi!:) I also wanted to take advantage of the 4/3 Package,so I went ahead and booked it for April 25-May 2(my best GUESS for DCG 2009 Dates is April 27-May 2)with the required $200.00 Deposit.I have until March 11 to cancel without penalty.I have NO information, but I am becoming concerned that Disney Channel Games 2009 may have been cancelled. There is a RUMOR going around to that effect.Rumors are just rumors, but there does seem to be some negative indicators.Disney has already cancelled events such as the 2009 Pirate and Princess Parties. Also,to my knowledge,Disney Channel Games 2009 was not announced and promoted during the Disney Channel's Totally New Year programming which is when Disney Channel has traditionally promoted their programs for the upcoming year.Disney Channel Games 2008 WAS announced and promoted in this way. There is also NOTHING,and I mean NOTHING,coming from Disney concerning Disney Channel Games 2009.Hopefully,the negative indicators don't mean anything and Disney Channel Games 2009 is still going to happen.Only time will tell I suppose.:)

I received this info today.

There is no official word at this time as to whether the DC Games will take place at WDW in 2009.

Thank you for your interest.

I just thought it was a standard answer, but now after hearing what you have said about the rumors of "no games", it makes me wonder. There were the problems last year with security, so maybe they have decided that it's not worth all the trouble to include the public. :sad2:

Ohhhh, thats the time I will be there at that time and my kids would LOVE it. I hope the games do go on.:confused3

:thumbsup2 After the dates were announced last year, we re-arranged our trip so the kids could attend one day of taping and the concert. We got the concert tickets through the AP site. There seemed to be ALLOT of locals. So, besided the AP site there has to be other ways to get the concert tickets. We were one of those families down on the field that left for the safety of the stands. The girls to see the Jonas Brothers were wayyyyyyyyy out of control and scared our children. If they do have the DCG and concert again and the JB are there, we won't be going. It was pure chaos!!! We did get to see the JB at the "secret" parade at DHS during that week. The kids were up close to them and other Disney Channel stars. That was neat. Also, the whole week we would bump into the stars at the parks at night. The games was a BIG let down. You had a small grassy area to sit/stand and could hardly see what was going on around the big tents. So, even when they were taping, you couldn't see it. I know it is a "production", but it could have been set up better for the fans. :sad2:

If the Games have been cancelled,I don't think the reason was security issues.I think it would be because of the economic downturn which is why Disney is cancelling other events(Pirate and Princess Parties,etc.).There is simply NO information coming from Disney at this time.Last year Hal Boedeker,TV Critic for the Orlando Sentinel, announced the Dates for Disney Channel Games 2008 on his Blog on January 6.He had received the Dates directly from Disney Channel, however Disney did not announce the Dates officially until late March. This year Hal has heard NOTHING from Disney concerning DCG 2009,which,in my opinion, could be another negative indicator.
Hopefully Disney will be forthcoming with information soon so interested parties can make/cancel Vacation plans for DCG 2009.:)
