Disney Channel Games 2008???

Attended the concert last night arriving at 5:30 PM & the lines were
already horrendous (what did I expect?!!):rotfl2:
(We got a decent parking spot surprisingly) Didn't mind because we had
seats in the upper level (Section 215) which turned out to be a blessing
because the stars were coming & going into a VIP room/box not too far from
me & I could see them fairly well & had the kids that brought me along run over & wait by the stairs for them and it worked fairly decently for them to meet (however quickly) & get an autograph. The only one who didn't interact was Selena (and she had a huge policeman escorting her) but she did smile
& wave just declined giving her autograph. I was annoyed that it was so
poorly organized especially for a Disney production - I am soooo thankul that I didn't have to pay and 2 - that I was NOT on the field. If you are going to
allow that many people of all ages on the field - you need to have water provided from them at the beginning of the event so they may get hydrated and stay that way! Also, the woman making the "threats" of shutting down the event needs some serious PR training. Why wasn't there security in place in the center of the field so the crowd was controlled in the first place?
(because they wanted it packed for television at the expense of people's
safety) The parents who had the toddlers up on their shoulders are INSANE! Who would endanger their babies like that? It was so unpleasant to hear the announcement made repeatedly and people wouldn't listen and of course -
it started to rain but it cooled things off! Anyway, I am so thankful we had seats! We left at 11:30 PM to drive back to Jupiter and Demi Lovato was
performing again - was she the last act? But I just want to say a sincere
thanks to everyone who posted on this board - your information was so
helpful to me...THANK YOU:worship:

Will Disney Channel Games return next year? Sounds like it -- but maybe we need to send them a message

I hope Disney Channel executives realize how thrilled Central Floridians were to attend the Disney Channel Games last week.

Consider Saturday's concert. It rained, and people stayed. It started late, and people stayed. It ran long -- concert-goers were warned that would happen because it's a TV production -- and people stayed.

The audience on the field was told repeatedly to back up for safety reasons, and it did.

And there was the concert-goer who told Miley Cyrus, via poster, "Miley, I'm praying for you." The singer took note: "I can't be more appreciative of that."

Memo to Disney Channel: Central Florida cares.

So will the games return next year to Disney's Wide World of Sports? Do you want them to return?

"Walt Disney World feels like the right home," executive Adam Sanderson told me Friday at an Epcot party. He is senior vice president of brand marketing for Disney ABC Networks Group. He added that employees had been "incredibly gracious."

More encouraging words came from Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for Disney Channel Worldwide. "The parks have been an incredible host for us," he told me. "I'm optimistic that we'll continue this tradition, if only to have a chance to build it out and make it bigger."

He added: "I'm hopeful and optimistic we can raise the bar next year."

Sounds like they'll back. The region wants them back. What do you think?

for letting us be a part of the games. If we have any concerns, instead of complaining, we should offer constructive criticism.

Some highlights -

-Nina from Pennsylvania (I forget her screen name) traded her field tickets for seat tickets that I had. My 15 year old and her friends are eternally grateful! :worship: :worship:

-My kids got autographs from all three JB and my 15 year old got hugs from all 3 - so their lives are complete

- Joe Jonas saying "Hey guys, how's it going" as his car passed us on the way out of the games.

-The Sprouse twins in their car stopped right in front of us and rolled down their window. We were in the midst of a conversation and didn't even notice at first. They were looking at us like "Hello? Do you not see us?" LOL

- Martin from DC France was my kids' favorite - my 15 year old and her friends talked to him quite a bit. They made him a "I <3 Martin" poster. Kyle Massey and Kevin Jonas saw it during the closing ceremonies yesterday and pointed it out to Martin. He was standing behind the big trophy and didn't see it at first. Kevin and Kyle and the Yellow Team congratulated him for "getting those girls!" LOL. He came over to talk to them during the concert. They gave him the poster to keep and he was showing it to other Disney Channel stars - they were so tickled that he was so tickled with his poster. We also saw him one night at AKL and his mom took a picture of my girls with him!

-Jason Earles was the most gracious of all the stars we met. He rolled down his car window and made sure that my kids all had his autograph. He also posed for pictures.

- Chelsea Staub was very sweet and friendly (and beautiful! - her red carpet dress was gorgeous)

- Alyson Stoner was adorable and friendly.

-Jennifer Stone was very freindly and sweet - she was hanging out of her car window as she passed us so she could high five my kids and other onlookers.

- We pulled into WWoS on Friday right as the JB were leaving. We ended up following their car. I didn't want to look like crazy stalker fans, so I sped up and went ahead of them - so they ended up following us! LOL

I wish the JB had performed more songs. I was impressed with Miley - I think it took a lot of courage for a 15 year old to get out there on that stage after everything that has been said in the past few weeks. She had a lot of composure. I laughed at her mocking Joe and Nick and their posters "Hey Joe! Mr. Joe Jonas! You're everything she needs!" or something to that effect. LOL

Maybe it's the way it came across - I am not complaining or unappreciative about the concert. Simply stating my concert experience (coming from someone who has PR and Special Events experience) my thoughts on water being needed for the field guests and crowd control/ guests safety (i.e. simpy placing security in the middle of it would have eliminated the need for the announcements (from where I was seated it didn't appear that the field crowd was cooperating thus the repeated requests and seat guests began chanting "just move") next year, I am sure this will have been addressed...live & learn.

Ohhhhh so much to tell.... suffice it to say the week got WAY better than it started out to be... Monday was the low point by far and then it just rose and rose and rose.... this post will probably come in waves, perhaps one for each day to keep the posting size down... will start in a few.. JUST got home and am wiped out but will get busy on it now....

For the most part, it sounds like everyone had fun. We never went to the stadium on Tuesday after hearing the negative Monday posts. My daughter is only 7 and wouldn't be able to hang with the "JOBRO Crazies"!!! Anyway, we drove home on Wed. Missed the parade by a day and Miley in the MK by 48hrs. :sad1:
Anyway, your reports have been exciting. I feel so bad for Sarah.... a bit disappointing what happened to her to say the least.
My daughter took pictures of the stadium all set up before taping began... she is thrilled with that.:thumbsup2 She knew the stars would be there shortly after her so:banana:
Okay, sooo.... who has any info about Christmas events? I am planning the next visit!!!LOL- don't shoot me!:santa: :rotfl2:

I wrote this when I got back from the 2008 Disney Channel Games Concert, Enjoy!
Just got back from the 2008 Disney Channel Games Concert! CAMERAS and RECORDING DEVICES WERE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

As we got into Champion Stadium, it started to RAIN! I had seats in section 116 and were covered by a roof. Cody Linley gave away the Viewers Choice Award, they filmed it for each time so they could just air the winning team. Brian Stepanek was the host. He did great at making the audience laugh while making the people on the field move back.

Then, Miley Cyrus announced the winner, and the winner is.. WHO KNOWS? Once again, they filmed each team winning and The Cheetah Girls performed their new song "One World" from their new movie The Cheetah Girls: One World. After making the people on the field move back, the concert finally began. The first performance was Miley Cyrus singing "See You Again" followed by "Fly on the Wall" and "Breakout." Her new album will be released July 22nd. After Miley was done with her songs she noticed a sign that said "Miley, I'm praying for you." Miley replied by saying "I can't be more appreciative of that right now."

Next on the stage was Jordan Pruitt who sang two new songs that will be available on iTunes in August. Next, The Cheetah Girls performed a few more songs from their new movie.

After a long break of water and some filming of the crowds, Demi Lavato took the stage. She sang two songs from the new Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock and her version of "That's How You Know" from Enchanted. Finally, during Demi's third song the Jonas Brothers enter the stage. When the Jo Bros came on stage, the stadium went crazy! They had the loudest applause throughout the entire concert. The Jonas Brothers performed S.O.S., and the song "Burnin' Up" off their new album. Overall, the concert was great. I can't wait to watch the Disney Channel Games on Disney Channel this July.

You are so right!! The area behind the "mosh pit" was so much better. We were able to lay our towels down and sit comfortably all night. The girls all had room to dance and my daughter was able to hang out at the railing most of the night. I wonder if the seats are comfy becasue I really like having my space down below. I'm not sure if I'd ask for seats or field again - but I will DEF not go early and will be thrilled with an open area like I had last night.

We got onto the field though, and were like 3 rows back. But 15 minutes after I got out there, I couldn't take it, so I started making my way out, and my vision went all black so I probably stepped on/fell into a lot of people.

I found that it was much more fun in the back with open space. Being able to breathe was a big plus! Also, you could dance like a crazy person. But, I'm glad I went...next year though, SEATS...definitely! Haha.

Hmm, well, we never made it to the games, nor the concert, but from what I'm hearing sounds like I made the right choice. We chose to stay in the parks. We did see the parade at DHS. Good parade, just wished Miley would have been in it. Didn't hear about her troubles until today, since we've been gone. What I'm really confused about is all the mention of it raining last night. We were swimming at our hotel in the afternoon and then headed over to Magic Kingdom around 6 and spent the night there until about 11:30. We didn't experience any rain at all, and we were outside the whole time. Seems crazy since we weren't that far away.

Was Miley even at the games? What day was she at MK? Just wondering if we were there on the same day.

on Thursday. She met fans and signed autographs. She also did some rides... according to the media. There are some pix on previous posts.

It didn't rain a lot or for very long.
