Disney card discount

With the discount for disney visa for hotels that came out....anybody know if you just need to be a card holder and payment method doesn't matter or do you need to use the card for the discount? Our upcoming trip is mostly paid off, but may consider getting a disney visa for this discount and then use the discount for food/shopping.

Our experience has been you have to use the card for the discount. Also, the Visa discount is at limited locations and not throughout the park.

I only had to pay the initial $200 deposit with Disney Visa. I can pay the rest of the balance with any other card.
You will probably have to call them to apply the discount once you have the physical Disney Visa card. It might take 1-2 weeks to get the card after you apply.
