Disney Can Share Your Personal Info

Yep, got a statement in the mail the other day and the op-out form was there.:cool1:

They may not share your Social Security number.

Disney specifically states that they do share your SSN unless there is a law, Federal, or your Home State that prevents them from doing so.

Any company that does business with the citizens of Massachusetts may not share customer social security numbers. This has been true since the passage of the new privacy law. Disney's policy statement may offer that they may share them where not prohibited by law, but the reality is that it is prohibited by law, and so they may not.

Just a heads up!

Thank you for posting this...we got our bills today and threw away the privacy notice w/o looking at them. Then i saw your post and remembered that they needed to be sent back. They are in the mail as i type this, your post was greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Your name and what you bought is public record but Disney can share any info that you have provided them including address, phone number, SSN, transaction info, and your credit info. They are limited by law depending on which State you live in.

A "we do not share your info" policy would be more consumer friendly but Disney has a different policy.

That would violate Canadian privacy laws however don't know if Disney gives a hoot about that.

VI. Social Security Numbers
In accordance with applicable law, we have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures to protect the confidentiality of social security numbers, we prohibit unlawful disclosure of social security numbers for those who have them, we limit access to social security numbers to those employees who need to know such information.

Doesn't this say they don't share them. :confused3

I still say it depends on the law. This is from Disney's Privacy Policy:

"We collect and share some or all of your Information from the following sources:

•Information you have provided in person, over the phone, through the mail, through our website, via e-mail or through any other medium, on applications or other forms, including name, address, social security number and telephone number; and
•Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, as described above, or others, such as account balances and payment history; and
•Information we receive from a nonaffiliated third party, including consumer reporting agencies, such as credit worthiness and credit history.
