Disney buys ground at Cozumel?

Since we are in a speculation mode, let me add my two cents. I think the Magic and Wonder will stay in service with DCL for many more years. When a cruise line takes a ship out of service, they sell it to another cruise line and they make minor modifications and continue to sail it another 20 or so years. I don’t think DCL wants it’s unique ships sailing for other cruise lines. Everyone knows what ships Margaritaville is sailing - old repurposed major cruiseline ships. DCL brand is too important for them. They don’t want someone to look at a Margaritaville ship and say - Look that is an old Disney ship.

My first cruise was on RCCL Song of America in 1984. It was just taken out of service in 2023 and will be scrapped this year. It was sailing for over 40 years. RCCL sold it in 1999 and it sailed under at least 4 other cruise brands before being scrapped. I saw it once in a Caribbean port several years ago and instantly recognized it as the Song of America even though it was rebranded.

The OGs are being meticulously taken care of and I expect them to stay in service for another 10-15 years and then be scrapped by DCL.

I agree. I think all the assumptions that the Magic and Wonder are gone by 2031 when the 3 newer class of ships launch is incorrect. They would not have specified that the fleet was growing to 13 ships in the announcement if they didn't plan to actually sail with 13 ships for a while. Who knows- there may be 2 more of this "smaller" class in the works for later in the 2030s that will be the true replacements for the Magic and Wonder?

Sorry, I didn’t “move the goal post.”

Disney is already in LA/SD and is on the record as saying it’s a market they’ll likely expand service to as the fleet grows. And then there are credible sources who claim Disney has indicated a return to NYC, etc.

My posts are thoughtful and carefully written but I’m not writing APA-style research papers, especially as we drift away from the topic. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what I write or source, ppeople believe what they want to believe.

If you want to believe that Disney is going to redeploy the Adventure to its late and greatest Disney-created port in Cozumel because somebody heard that from a dishwasher on board their cruise… so be it.

But everyone else can join me in reality where Disney is highly conservative when it comes to capex and has a storied history of cost cutting.
lol, no need to get sassy. I was bringing up a point where your post kept changing language which changed the meaning of it. Again, not here saying Adventure is going to Cozumel or any other wild thing you decided to say in response to me.

I’m well aware of where DCL is and insights of where it’s going.

Are we sure the catamaran crew weren't talking about the Kuza beach club? It isn't exactly the same area on the map, but not far. Disney does not own this resort, but recently (April) started switching many of the tours that include a beach club to go to Kuza (which took over from a former resort, Playa Palancar, I think). Disney markets it as having a private area for their ship, and other cruiselines market their areas too.

We did a three stop tour from the Treasure last month that went to the Mayan ruins, a Mayan chocolate experience, and Kuza. It definitely had the vibe of still be under construction/just coming online.
I think this is probably where the rumor stems from. According to DCL's website, the Port Adventure at Kuza Beach at Cozumel includes, "
  • With your access pass, explore the best crystalline waters this destination has to offer. Along the stunning shoreline, choose a lounge chair at Disney’s exclusive beach zone, where you’ll experience live entertainment and immersive cultural shows that celebrate the essence of Mexico and the heart of Cozumel."

Sounds right
