Hi all,

I've found many threads on how to get to DTD Disney from the parks, but I haven't been able to find how long it would take. How early should we leave the park (not sure which one yet) to make it to the 9pm Cirque? Would leaving at 8pm be cutting it way too close?

Yes, I think that would be cutting it way too close. I would say leave by 7 PM. You're going to have to go to a resort first and then wait for a DTD bus. Every time we've gone to DTD from POR (where we usually stay), we've had to wait for a second or third bus and it's been even worse when we try to go back. The evenings are very busy out at DTD and the buses are very full.

Buses do not go from the parks to DTD, only from Disney Resorts and the Transportation & Ticket Center.

You wouldn't make it to the 9:00 PM show even if the buses went directly from the parks to Downtown Disney.

Factor in the maximum wait of 20 minutes for a bus to show up - that takes you to 8:20. And then you have that long, long, long drive (OK, it's not that long but the lights are awful) to Downtown Disney which I would say is at least 30 minutes. Now you are at 8:50. Then you would have to walk from the bus stop to the theatre for a 9:00 show.

Personally, I would plan a dinner somewhere around 5:00 and then head to Downtown Disney for a bit of window shopping so I'm not stressing about getting to a show on time.

I think this is a great plan and we would probably do the same.

If you are at MK....take the boat over to the GF. Then hop on their bus to DTD.
If at Epcot?? walk to BC, and take their bus to DTD.
DHS?? Same thing. Or bus to SSR and then over to DTD via the boat or on foot.
AK? Probably doesn't apply since it will most likely be closed earlier in the day.

You should plan on at least 90 mins when going to DTD...from just about anywhere other than SSR. You can take any park bus to SSR and then take their boat to DTD, or use the walkway. Still...plan on that 90 mins.
Cirque CMs will tell you to get there, and seated, at least 30 mins prior to the start time...good advice. And it can take a bit of time to walk to Cirque from the bus stops..especially if you're walking from SSR!!! That's a hefty hike.

I would just take a taxi.

It's much easier to do that than to try to use WDW transportation to go from a park to DTD - as others have said, there is no direct transportation available, and it takes forever to go from a park to a resort then transfer to a DTD bus! I once wasted an hour and a half doing that, before finally giving up!!!!

This transportation wizard is great for figuring plenty of time for travel in the world. :thumbsup2

While OLP gives 'fairly' decent info, the times they have stated are way off base. It would seem that there are no wait times figured in there. You could be standing at DHS (for instance), waiting for a bus to POFQ, waiting for that bus for up to 15 mins. Then, the ride to POFQ would be about 15 mins, then a wait for a boat to come....15 mins, then the actual boat ride to DTD is about 20 mins...total of 65 mins, not the 41 that OLP says. Or 35 mins if you head to SSR (via the bus from DHS) and then walk to DTD?? Nope, not likely. The times they list would mean that you would not be waiting more than 30 seconds at any juncture.

So, with that in mind, always figure on at least an hour, and 75 mins is even better!!

We would certainly take the boat or monorail over to GF or Poly to catch a DTD bus.

From MK walk to the CR and get the bus there.

It seems as though all of the times figured are the best case scenarios with absolutely no waiting. Plus some of it is outdated. They still list a direct bus from CSR to the BW.

As far as the original question. From MK I would walk over to CR and get the DTD bus or take the SSR bus and walk to DTD. AK I would probably just take a bus to SSR and walk over to DTD. From DHS or Epcot I would walk to an Epcot resort and take the DTD bus.

From MK walk to the CR and get the bus there.

Both these ideas are good ideas but you have to add in the time to get to these places and the wait for the DTD bus at those resorts. With the boats there can be 10 minute or more waits for them plus 10 minute ( boat + walk) time to the GF bus station. The walk to CR is also about 10 minutes.

And there is one other thing, the bus is often shared with the other monorail resort hotels so there can be the time between those hotels and waits at each stop. So when people say 90 min to two hours you do have to plan for that from the time you exit MK, there are lots of opportunities for delays.

We were there last week and stayed at holiday inn on hotel plaza blvd and it's apx 10-15 min walk to DTD ther are shuttles to hotels on hotel plaza blvd and you can take a shuttle from the hotel to DTD by Pleasure island which isn't far from you destination. I know the hotel buses from the parks are apx :05 & :35 from 1hr before park open and after park closes buses to DTD from the hotel
Is apx :00 & :35

Sorry I forgot to reply here!

Thank you for all the great advice. We decided it's not worth it to risk missing the show, so we'll head over to DTD when we arrive and hang out there until Cirque starts.

Thanks again!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe that there is direct bus service from DTD to the TTC.

You are correct, there are no buses from the TTC to DTD. There may be buses there that service the non Disney hotels that are in the DTD area.

Is this a trick question?
Lynx has a route which goes from TTC and stops at DTD
Otherwise walk to POLY and take bus to DTD
