I am sooooo excited! We are headed to Disney in 3 days and DH's paycheck just came through with a nice surprise of a few hundred in overtime extra!

More money for fancy pants Disney dining!!!!!

How would it be a surprise if you knew he put in overtime? I just ask because I am one of those who calculates my paycheck way ahead of time. I know pretty much exactly what I will be getting, even with overtime.

well, have not been good about calculating his pay recently. life seems to move really fast and we have been taking what we can get LOL. I remember him mentioning overtime, but didn't realize it was going to be two days worth!

I should be a little more fastidious about this kind of thing, shouldnt I?

It really depends on how the overtime is calculated. DH works for the government. He worked midnights last week, 10:30pm to 7 am. Some of those hours were at a different pay rate than his normal hours but not all of them. And then there is the extra for technically working on Saturday. While I knew he was getting extra in his pay check, I had no idea how much since he is not paid hourly and I don't know the pay rates for the times/days that he worked.

Well sometimes you might not get paid your overtime on the next check, it might be held back,etc. I've had "surprise" travel claims at work where I put in for it, but didn't expect it back as quickly.

Either way, getting money you're not expecting (yet), is always a bonus Semms almost like free money to me, even though its not.
