Disney Birthday Cakes

Hi

We have just come back from Disney, and as it is near my sons birthday I am looking to make him a cake version of each theme park (Mgm Hat, Epcot Ball, Cinderellas Castle and Tree of Life) !!!! Mad I know.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever done this before and had any suggestions. My main problems are making the wand part of the Epcot Ball and the Tree of Life!!!!!!

If anyone could help I would be most grateful.

You are either very talented or absolutely mad to try and make those!! I am terrible at cake making so I cant really offer any advice.

I would love to see this when it is finished. Alas it is far too ambitious artistically for me to even try.

I haven't seen any pictures of the Tree of Life or the Epcot Ball. If it is of any use to you, I have images of the names of the parks. If that is any good to you just pm me.

For the wand on the epcot ball I'd be tempted to use either a plastic one from a toy shop or a licorice lace. For the tree of life I'd use coloured rice paper scrumpled up for the leaves and mini rolls/chocolate logs for the branches, I wouldn't want to replicate the carvings though. Good luck!

Wow! If you do this you must show us the pictures. I'd recommend you head over to the DIS cookery board (it's under "Creative Community" on the main board.) I've not heard of anyone doing the other three but there's certainly plenty of people who've made castle cakes and I'm sure they'll have some great ideas!

I seem to recall seeing edible leaves and edible safari animals in Morrissons in the bakery section. They might be useful for the Tree.

I think I may just be mad as I have rarely made cakes before. It is just an idea that popped into my head, I do hope im not too much out of my depth!

At least I know theres always nice birthday cakes in Sainsburys if I fail miserably!

hi
me being me would take a photo of each parks emblem, castle, epcot ball, mgm hat and tre of life decide which i wanted and take it to asda where they put photos on cakes!!

I don't know where you live but if you were near me (Dundee) you could have me make it for you as I make fab cakes for a living (not modest I know ).

My dream wedding cake is to make replica's of each park's icon as the cake, i'm doing a Princess Tower birthday cake at the moment.

wow! those cakes are brilliant!! How lucky to get one of those! Its my son's 14 birthday next week but he's a teen and wouldnt appreciate the hard work thats gone into a cake like those. Wow!

Those cakes are wonderful. I know mine won't turn out anything like yours but heres hoping. I think Ive managed to get most of the things I need now and so far everything is edible (no worrying about them eating bits they shouldnt be!).
