Disney bans kids from restaurant!!!

I could NOT figure out how they picked 10 as the cut off... then my 8 year old told me well MOM they had to say 10 because you told dad we had to go back to Disney before I turned 10.. when I turn 10 I'm a grown up there...

So do you think they REALLY wanted to say nobody under age 16 (or 13 or 18 or whatever) can eat at V&A's but didn't want to explain how they could charge adult ticket prices but not let them in as adults?
:confused3

Maybe because 10 year olds are considered *adults* in the WDW of pricing?

I guess what tweaks my butt about this whole argument is that when people say that we should be more tolerant, (not refering to anyone in particular) they only mean the people without kids. Why is it such an over the top expectation that parents take their kid out of situations that the kids can clearly not handle? Why should I tolerate the screaming when you won't tolerate my wanting a somewhat quiet dinner? It just seems awfully one sided and the quiet dinner people are suddenly turned into child haters who shouldn't bother going to WDW.

:thumbsup2

Would you REALLY be that inconvenienced if you couldn't go to one restaurant out of 96 on one or two nights after 8pm during an entire week?
.

if that restaurant was in the deluxe hotel I'm paying good money to stay in for the convienence of having quality on-site dining, then yes...

The GF has 4 other Table Service restaurants to choose from. I don't think anyone staying at the GF is going to starve b/c their 4 year old can't go to V&A's.

I don't know. Is any parent here really outraged about the new V&A policy? I haven't really heard someone disagree with V&A in particular, just other posters suggestion that they should include other signatures such as Jiko as well. I don't want to have to avoid Jiko with my 5 and 11 year old. A room can be set aside, but that will open up a whole new can of worms about being seperate or not getting your request.
Would anybody disagree with Bistro in Epcot going to the same policy? Or if like Bistro and Wolfgang Puck there was seperate restaurant or dining area set aside for finer dining?

I'm not talking about V&A's...I'm ok with that decision as you can see earlier in the thread...

what I'm taking issue with is turning other "signature dining" restaurants into adults only...Jiko's, Yachtsman, and Artist's Point, and CA Grill have all been mentioned...and in those cases there are only one signature dining place in those hotels.

Okay then...but why get bothered by something that HAS NOT happened? Just b/c an anonoymous poster on the net thinks that signature restaurants at Disney should be adults only, doesn't mean it will happen.

Heck, I think that the Patriots should have televised locker rooms, but I don't think that will happen either. :thumbsup2

V&A's is special class of restaurant and I don't think Disney is planning any other changes. And if they do, I will worry about it then. :hippie:

See and all this time I though the Earth revolved around the sun.

how is that not also relavent to you? Children are people too, they have as much of a right to eat at a nice restaurant as you do.

and I like the personal attack, but the fact that you would be blocking children who are guests of a specific hotel from eating in a restaurant there doesn't sit well with me. Guests in deluxe hotels are paying for amenities including the restaurants. The restaurants are THE reason we chose AK over WL for our trip in Sept.

We believed in our idea - a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.

I'm just responding to others ideas within the thread. I'm not overly worried about it.

And I'll get right on the Patriots open locker room lobby right with you.

You know what, you're absolutely right.

I can't speak for the poster that you are adressing but my panties did become bunched because of the hope of this policy spreading to other restaraunts was brought up in the discussion. Is it something to worry about now? Nope. But can't we respond?

oh and PS :)

"That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don’t remember what it’s like to be twelve years old. They patronize; they treat children as inferiors. I won’t do that. I’ll temper a story, yes. But I won’t play down, and I won’t patronize."

I would really rather see tougher rules enforced about behavior -for both adults and kids. Disney should set a policy-in writing-that CM's will ask guests to leave if they or their children are causing a disturbance and infringing on the safety and/or enjoyment of other guests. I've experienced screaming kids and rude adults and both can ruin an otherwise lovely meal. YEARS ago when I took DN on her first trip, I quietly asked if we could have our table changed at Tony's because the family next to us was very loud and were using language that I didn't feel was necessary for a 5 yr old to hear. We were moved quickly and without any fuss, but I always felt that the loud family should have been asked to quiet down as well. Luckily it wasn't packed to the gills at that time-I wonder what they would have done if it hadn't been?

Ah, but are the children actually paying for these deluxe hotels, or are the adults? ;)

Besides, if you're taking advantage of free dining, then nobody's actually paying for the restaurants.

well, as you can figure, if we eat out at several signature dining restaurants in one week, we are paying for many of our meals OOP.

You REALLY have a problem with one or two restaurants offering adult only hours in the evening a night or two during and entire week????????????? I just dont' see how asking for that is selfish or anti-child and not a thing you can say will convince me otherwise. Not even quoting Walt...whatever the heck that was for...

The signature restaurants in the reosrts are by no means restricted to the use of only the people who are "paying good money" to stay in said resort. The folks at the All-Stars have every right and access to those places too, so your argument hold zero water.

That said, I will agree to disagree with you. you want kids all the time everywhere and that's fine. i think there should be options, you don't. I'm fine with Disney's decision...you may not be. but it is what it is I suppose.

Disney is not marketing just to families.

They are marketing:

Theme weddings (probably no kids with the wedding couple)
Honeymooners (again probably no kids with you on your honeymoon)
Couples (couple means 2 so again no kids with you)
Conventioneers (most companies would frown on trying to take your 3yr old to the convention with you, so again no kids with you)

If you are going to market to adults that are going there WITHOUT children you are going to have to have some adult things.
