I liked the name Toby! My husband said that it is a dog's name...Apparently there is a movie about a dog named Toby - movie has the same name. Plus (I didnt tell him) that the dog's name in the Great Mouse Detective is Toby...he was still cute.

You can name him after the mouse - Basil

Our dogs name is Toby (our 110 lb yellow lab) who was named after Toby Keith!!!!

As Jack is just a nickname for John, it stands to reason that it would be popular; John and its variations in other languages (Juan, Sean, Hans, Giovanni, etc.) is probably *the* most popular male name in the Western world, over time.

For anyone with an Irish surname who might be thinking about Oliver, you might want to reconsider, especially if you're Catholic. For an Irish kid, being named Oliver is akin to a Jewish child being named Adolf -- very bad historical association. (And for anyone not up on Irish history, the "Oliver" that causes the problem is Oliver Cromwell.)

What if everyone named their child for where they were conceived? Classes at school would be FULL of kids named "Backseat" and "Ford"!! Not to mention the explanations you'd need for naming your kid "elevator"

Since I have triplets, would that mean they were all named the same. As for my baby, we considered Mandy (we had gone to a Mandy Patinkinton show) or a disney name. (We left for WDW the next day ) not positive where the magic happened. lol

how about Yensid, the sorcerer from Fantasia (it's Disney backwards) - we've been waiting to see if we've brought home a "little souven-ear" in which case the name may be Coronado (as in Coronado Springs!)

If you in fact did conceive..please don't name the kid after a hotel!

I love the name Sebastian. My mom didn't like it because it reminded her of "that crab from the Little Mermaid" . I was thinking more along the lines of Sebastian Bach.....but in your case it could have worked.

Congrats btw!! I love the name Tanner too. My DD11 is obsessed with Full House, so I may see a little Tanner in my future. lol

I just had to share my son's Disney name -- which I didn't see on that list. Although, I must say he was named after his Grandpas, not after the movie -- but, he's thrilled to hear his name every time he watches Tarzan. Unfortunately, he's the villain in it though!!! My son's name is Clayton -- Clayton David, named for my DH's dad and my dad.

We thought we had a very unique name -- now the only name in my son's Sunday School class that has two children with the same name is Clayton! Go figure! We know SEVERAL Claytons now. But, I still love the name -- and that he's named after his grandpa.

And, yes, in Michigan too there are MANY little boys named Jack. But, I do love that name.
