Disney$$ at the resorts?

My kids have saved alot of Disney Dollars and I wondered if my 14 year old will be able to use his to buy snacks at the resorts or on the boardwalk, and will the girls will be able to use theirs to shop at either place... or are the dollars only good in the parks?
