We are getting ready to head down to Kidani for our first DVC trip and also first trip to AKV on the 28th. We were thinking about getting the Annual pass because we will be going again in April before our cruise and possibly fit another trip in just after school lets out next year before our year is up. Question is that if I purchase it right now does the year begin now or the first day that we use them? Thanks for the help/info.

Your year begins when you receive your actual AP. If you pre-purchase you either pay for an exchange voucher (plastic card) or select will call, then you go to a park ticket window or guest relations location to exchange for the actual AP. Or you purchase on-site at a park ticket window or guest relations location and they hand you a live AP then. The resorts are unable to handle anything related to APs.

If you buy a voucher online, your pass doesn't get activated until you turn the voucher in for an actual ticket and use it in the turnstiles. That is the date your clock starts ticking on your AP. FYI, Disney actually gives you 366 days in your AP year, because it is still valid one year including the same date the next year. For example: activate your AP on Jan. 1st 2013, and you can still use it on Jan.1st 2014...366 days.
