Disney Announces New Star Wars Lands for DL and DHS

I assume Star Wars Launch Bay will be integrated into the new land and not stuffed randomly into, say, the Animation building?

I do like the idea of the fireworks show with Star Wars music. That never gets old.

It will be in sounds dangerously in the theater where they were showing the rebels catch up during star wars weekends.

so is it known for sure that TSL will open before star wars land? or just best guess

Well I'd guess some of that might still happen if it's a paid event now.

Yeah, I was thinking about universal's harry potter weekend and wondering if they would so something like that. We'll see I guess. I hope that they still have star wars weekends for the next few years because this should take a while to build.

As a Star Wars Nerd, it looks like a cross between Corellia and Naboo to me. I can see people thinking Endor because of the trees, but Corellia has some of the same looking trees.

Either way. With the description of the Millennium Falcon ride, I am a bit underwhelmed. I don't really want another Toys Story Mania type ride, if that is the gist. I would prefer another Rockin' Rollercoaster type ride. I'm not a fan of putting you in front of a computer screen. Seems lots of theme parks are going towards the rides like Toy Story Mania. Knotts Berry Farm just opened up a new ride which is the same fashion as Toy Story Mania. I will say the Transformers ride at Universal Hollywood is really good though.

If the Cantina is anything like a Mos Eisley Cantina and has a full bar, I know where I will be spending a good amount of time! I can imagine the more I get my buzz on the more I would get into it like I'm actually in Star Wars.

Yeah...you got me thinking.

I've long been appalled at Star Tours...possibly the greatest pop culture franchise of the later half of the 20th century...and that's what they were willing to do...

Now the times and tech have changed...maybe too much.
Gravity still is the best Invention for amusement parks...it will never be replaced.

These "immersive simulator experience like no others" are not really ambitious nor do they create much desire to return.

Shooters are nice...but again...not ambitious.

Eventually...they're gonna have to add something but sim and "family coasters" in Florida. I hope I'm still going there by the time they get around to it.

I think the Disney Blog said it would be in the Animation Academy building. That's where the blue sky thing was supposed to go. I guess it will be part of that.

To put this in perspective. Star Wars is 14 acres. Toy story is 11. Avatar is 12.

Also due to the size of the land it's likely that it will be the two rides plus more attractions so shows or other things throughout the land.

So, does the new fireworks show at DHS mean no more fantasmic?
I'm still trying to get all the info but I'm pretty sure I saw the Star Wars fireworks are only during the limited time seasonal Season of the Force event, how this event differs from a Star Wars weekend I have no idea, but to answer your question those fireworks have no impact on Fantasmic.

I know what you mean! I just had a steak for dinner and read these reports after. I was immediately mad I didn't have a hotdog instead and put every cent I can save toward future trips to Star Wars, pandora and toy story updated Disney!

Don't worry, five or six years is plenty of time to save up :)

My tastes are very different. I don't do coasters so almost none of the proclaimed E-Ticket rides interest me at all. On the other hand I LOVE Star Tours. It's my favorite ride in DHS and in my top 5 for DW as a whole. I can do it three or four times back to back and yes next time I go I'll have to ride it until I see the new scenes they're adding.

Now they can't just do the same again for the Millenium Falcon ride, but I'm really hoping it's more along the lines of a simulator (maybe with you as the pilot having some control over the vehicle?) than a coaster.

I think you'll agree that makes you more of the "lobo" than the "alpha"

Star tours is fine for what it is...but the herky, jerky screen in front of you stuff has to go...

We'll see...
Any "interactive" technology that has to be 45 second or less due to capacity issues is gonna leave the rider wanting.

Sometime G's and a track just work better. Rockinroller coaster is probably still lb for lb the best they've managed to do there...just saying.

All I can do is hope they don't go that way since it would be wasted on me. The fact they don't obsess over coasters is why I like Disney (and also Universal with their many simulator rides) and never go to other amusement parks.

Star wars launch bay by the end of this year. Star wars fireworks and new updated star tours by early 2016.

I think the fact they are coming up with those 3 small fixes so quickly tells us they will do the improvements ASAP in phases and I would think it would be done in 2 to 3 years. Just a guess until we hear otherwise.

Well. They haven't begun construction on the actual land yet so I think it's a much safer bet that Star Wars is a closer to 2020 opening for the land.yes the other little stuff will be here very quickly but that's because they aren't big additions.

I could defintely see toy story being open in 2-3 years tho.

This is great news..........it seems the Igor and Igortrons have wokan up and are making the improvements and additions the parks need. From the art work and videos it does all look amazing.

Hopefully we are looking at 3 years not 5, both possible based on history. I am hoping with all the time the imaginers have kept things quiet, it means a lot of the design work is in place and its mostly a building *them* project

I cannot help but think Uncle Walt is up in HEAVEN smiling.

AKK

PS However now the Devil in me comes out and saying, is this just the Igors way of covering if the Shanghai park, gets *shanghaied/stolen from him* and he can point at the US parks and say, well look at what I did here!
