Disney announces changes to Tables in Wonderland

This is why I hate April fools jokes on the internet. I read this today the 4th and thought it was real. Boo on 4/1.

I'm surprised this April Fools post was so realistic to many. I wonder what that says about our perception of Disney.

I can totally see this being real soon enough. Disney doesn't care about its repeat customers. They want those once in a lifetime visitors cause they spend spend spend with thier emotions. Us that go time and time again knowxthe real deal and know how to save here and there.

Disney is not in the business of "caring', nor should they be.

Why shouldn't a business care. I care about my customers. If I didnt I wouldn't have a business.

Well, of course you should care. My comment was incomplete; I apologize.

PP implied that Disney's revoking of previous perks/discounts is a sign of not caring. What I meant to say was that Disney will (should?) give only what it needs to to keep the profits up, as it's first and foremost a business whose reason for existence is to make money. It cares insofar as it's concerned that guests will want to return.

totally get you. And that is kinda sad for the people who come year after year. We just get less and less. Because they know we will still come back.

Yeah, I also miss the deeper discounts and nicer perks that I used to enjoy. But so far, the current price point hasn't broken me yet; when it breaks more people than management is comfortable with, we'll see new discounts and perks. That's Business 101.

I'd actually opine that we are getting more these days, just not overtly from Disney. With each subsequent trip, we have better knowledge about how to Do Disney, which yields better and more enjoyable trips. How's that for Glass Half Full?

I agree. We have deff spent less and less each trip. Leaves more for nice dinners at night. I love for dinner each night. Lol

We spend less each year cause we don't buy like we used to. Each trip we always came home with a new piece of art work. The past 4 years nothing. There has been zero stuff from the commissioned artists that catch our attention anymore. You can only have so many fab 5 in princess paintings. Our last piece was the mice carrying the slipper on the pillow from Daren Wilson. It was so nice to see some secondary characters. But lately nothing. I miss the huge wilardson's that were so grand. Now they are 11x16's. Even tshirts over the years have gotten just so bla. I will say last trip was the first in a few years I found some new tshirts in that new place downtown with all the different shops. The one he some nice stuff. Speaking of old Disney mech. Remember when the home store had furniture? They had a wing back chair with Mickey all over it. We laughed when we saw it but years later now that we have our reading room with our whole wdcc collection in curios that were built for that room I sit there and wish I was sitting in those chairs. Sorry I digress bit a lot has changed over the years when it comes to us even wanting to spend money. At least it's more in our pockets now.

The sad thing is, pretty much everyone commenting agrees that this is so realistic because this is what we have come to expect from Disney and their track record is such that I certainly hope that no one high up from the company sees this thread, because they would probably think that this makes great sense and quickly move to implement these exact changes. April Fools jokes are fine, but lets not give the Mouse any ideas about how to take more away from us.

This particular DVC Mike post really deserves accolades for cleverness including because it so accurately portrays Disney's callous history with discount programs. When we all read the post right after it went up, it sounded exactly like something Disney would do based on its history with discount programs, which often start out as seemingly great deals and then over a period of three to four years years, Disney continuously raises the price and adds new restrictions until you reach the point where the "discount" costs more than regular price and applies to almost nothing of value.

Kind of like what they did with DVC points? ;) ;) :teeth:
