I am planning a disney trip for next Nov, but my kids want to try Universal too, So I was wondering if 5 days at disney and 4 days at Universal sounded ok> We have never been to Universal so they want to give it a try, but I really want to go to Disney, what do you think??

From what I have read that sounds like plenty of time. We are doing WDW for 5 days and only 2 at US. How old are you kids? Mine are only 3 & 5 so there are alot of things at US that they cannot go on, thus we need less time there. Hope this helps

Every trip that I've been, we've always went to US. Usually 4 days @WDW and 2 days at US & IOA. This next trip we're gonna try to do US & IOA in one day. That's just because we've been enough to know what's our favorite rides out of the two parks. But if it's your first trip, I would allow one day for Universal and one day for Isle of Adventure. They sometimes have a type of park hopper ticket that you can get in to either park on the same day. So if one gets too crowded you can walk over to the other. I would suggest doing Isle of Adventure in the morning since they have a lot of popular rides. Universal I find is not as crowded and that's my favorite spot for rides. Hope you have a good trip!

My kids are ages, 13, 11, 6 and 3.. they will all be a year older by then, I think my 6 year old will actually be 8 by then. Yes this is our first trip and we are thinking about getting the 5 day pass for a 2 day price, so I want to stay at least 4 days to get our moneys worth,.. I think we will stay off site at Days Inn Maingate Universal, anyone every stay there>?? thanks...

We were there Memorial Day weekend this past year and we just didn't care how crowded it was cuz we stayed on property and took advantage of the FOTL offered. Having FOTL allowed us to do everythign we wanted, while strolling through the park at a nice easygoing pace, in 2 days....we ended up going back to UNV another 1/2 to do some things over again, but 2 days would be sufficient. Staying on property might want to be something to consider since it saves tons of time and allows you to enjoy the parks more. My kids were 11 and 7....11 yr old LOVED both parks but 7 yr old was not too happy in IOA cuz he was too small to ride many of the rides. You might have a better time if you and your spouse would be willing to split up for some of the day and one take the younger kids to UNV and one take the older kids to IOA. We LOVED both parks but will not go back to IOA until my younger one is 54 inches or more!!

If you are staying off site from Disney and going to Universal I'd really suggest staying at one of the Universal hotels. If you stay on-site at US you have Front of the Line access. This is better than Disney's fast pass because you litearally walk onto any ride. This will let you do US/IOA in only 2 days!!! The Universal hotels may be a little more expensive, but FOTL access is worth it. PLus they often run specials (check the Universal website) and they take the Entertainment card. If staying on site at USF you could stay only 1 night and get FOTL access for two days, assuming you check in first thing in am. Or, you could stay 2 nights and get almost 3 full days at US and go at a somewhat more leisurely pace. This could give you an extra 1-2 days at Disney (although 5 days is pretty good)

If staying on site at Disney do US/IOA first as many people feel it's a bit of a let down to go from Disney to US. If staying off site at Disney (and on site at US) do US last since the hotels will be nicer than the Days Inn.

I agree with the other postings. Two days would be fine to cover Universal. We love Disney and we love Universal, but Universal is just not as large as Disney. We are going back in December and we are doing three days at US, but mainly because that is the arrival day and it won't be the whole day.

I whole-heartedly agree that staying in a Universal hotel is worth paying something extra! The Front of the Line access is the best perk anyone ever thought of!!!:bounce:

You don't say exactly when in November you are going. If it is over Thanksgiving, I would definately try to get a good rate and stay at a Universal hotel. The Royal Pacific can be as cheap at $110 a night with the Entertainment Card. For that you can competely defeat the bad things associated with a crowded park. We stayed at Hard Rock Hotel last labor day (Crazy4mandms we may have seen each other!), but with the FOTL the crowds didn't matter at all! You also get preferential treatment (next available table) at the City Walk restaurants.

If your trip is not during the rush of Thanksgiving, it may not matter so much.
