Disney and resales?

Can you buy resales directly from Disney or do you have to go thru the The Time Share Store? If I bought a resale contract I would need to finance it and I'm not sure how that works with the Time Share Store. Do they help you with financing or do you have to find your own? Need help from the experts!

There are lots of places to buy resale DVC...The Timeshare Store is but one. I don't know whether the resellers help with financing or not. In the past it seemed a lot of people took out equity in their homes to finance DVC.


You can buy points for "sold out" resorts from DVC directly and at that point they are not technically resale (although DVC acquired the points back from someone). DVC provides financing (not at a super low rate).

Technically, Disney does NOT sell resales. Any purchase thru DVC will come with all points in the current Use Year and dues will be automatically prorated based on the date of purchase. This is true of the new resorts being sold and also for any resorts already sold out (OKW, VB, HH, BWV, VWL and BCV).

Resale purchases can also get financing and there is a thread at the top of this board by The Timeshare Store explaining how that works (currently it's the 2nd thread from the top).

Purchase thru Disney will also have closing costs for first time purchasers and will have a minimum of 160 points at any resort. Resale purchases may be for any sized account - even as small as 25 points.
