Hi all

I am so happy I finally came over to check this board out! I am going to Disney for a quick trip this week and I am currently doing Atkins. Am I going to have difficulty maintaining my eating plan? Any tips on where to go? Any favorites for Atkins followers?

I am pretty nervous about sticking to plan- we will be there 3 days and then back again in December!!

Thanks for any tips!

We ate at places like Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace--buffets where we could have our choice of meats; we alos liked Ohanas for the same reason. I think the tough part would be breakfast--carry some bars, or shakes to make it easier to ignore the pastries.

I follow a plan that is a mix of South Beach and Atkins and didn't have any problems at all. We ate at Crystal Palace and I had eggs, bacon and fruit and mostly counter service places. I found out you can order a burger without the bun. That's important to do because otherwise they normally melt the cheese on the bun and it's too hard to try to pull off the cheese. Plus they seem to make it "fresh" as opposed to something that's been under a heat lamp. We had a great time and I didn't feel deprived at all. They have sugar free offerings just about everywhere. Including the Main Street candy store, ice cream parlor and many sugar free offerings at Epcot.

Have a great trip and let us know how you did when you come back. You can stay on plan if you are determined and more important, have a great time while you're doing it!

Most sit down restuarants will let you switch out the "potato" for an extra veggie instead. We liked the ESPN club for sitdown. For fast food I liked Cosmic Rays at MK in Tomorrowland - lots of choices - remember to ask for no bun and a good fixin bar with things like lettuce pickles toms mushroom condiments and a few other things that makes your meat into a meal. You will do fine - enjoy!

I've been to WDW several times since I started following the Atkins way of eating and I didn't have any trouble staying on plan. I just ask for grilled or steamed vegetables instead of a potato or rice.

The only difficult time I had was smelling the fragrance of freshly popped corn. I persevered, however. I can't even eat a little bit of popped corn without wanting more, so I just avoided it altogether.
