My friends just got back from a trip on the Magic, and said they thought next year for a limited time, Disney was offering a cruise *up* the west coast that was separate from the Baja California cruise. I can't find any info on that -- did they hear correctly?

I don't know the answer to your question, but wanted to say I love the picture of your cats!

Actually, I don't see how that could be. Most of the western cruises are already sold out and the itinerary is already picked....:)

Both the Magic and Wonder were designed as warm weather ships, so unless they are fitted with covers over the pools, it won't be practical for either of them to ever cruise Alaska.
We cruised Alaska on HAL in June 2002 on the Amsterdam, we had a record high of 72 in Juneau that day. And I do have a great picture of the kids and I in the outdoor heated pool with the Hubbard Glacier behind us, with steam coming off the pool.

The Magic will be doing a 4 month tour of duty in the Pacific next year in celebration of some Disney milestone!

The milestone is Disneyland's 50th anniversary.

The tour of duty is the Mexican Riviera. No cruises to Alaska.

I was getting really excited!! We have a cruise to Alaska booked in Aug. 2005 on Princess and the Disney cruise booked for August 2006. Would have loved to do the Alaskan cruise on Disney. What an awesome idea!!!

At the Castaway Party on the 9/27 Magic, Captain Tom asked the audience about what other itineraries people would like to see. There was quite an applause when Alaska came up.

I don't understand it as I associate Disney with nice weather, not Alaska. Frankly, while I'd love to take an Alaska cruise, but I'd never consider Disney for this.

So, I don't think Disney is planning any major itinerary changes beyond the West Coast cruises next year, but I suspect they must be thinking about adding more boats and itineraries.

My family would LOVE an Alaska cruise. We're planning a big, everyone goes, vacation for 2007. The adults would love to do an Alaskan cruise, but have setteled on Disney for the kids. If we could combine the two, we would be in heaven!!!
