Hi all. I am going to be at Disney for the last week of January. My dates are probably Sunday, Jan 27 - Friday, Feb 1. I just heard about this After Hours ticketed event that they had the last couple years and it occurs to me that I might be there when one happens. I am trying to figure out if I need to extend my trip to Feb 2 just in case Feb 1 (a Friday) is the event. I don't get the sense that Disney will be announcing the dates for a long time, so I can't wait to find out.

For those who attended of these last year, can you tell me about it? I will be going solo on this trip, and the idea of being able to choose my own course for 4 hours of a very uncrowded Magic Kingdom is really exciting. I don't need to spend time on fireworks or characters, so I think I could focus on go on a lot of rides, maybe some walkon. I do feel like it's awfully expensive ~$130, but also a unique event that I will end up considering to be the highlight of my trip. Would you do it alone if you had the chance? I am pretty good solo, so I am not concerned about being lonely or anything like that. I just wonder if you thought the event was worth it.

Hi there. If you haven’t seen it, this thread has a lot of info on Disney After Hours: "Official" 2018 Disney After Hours (DAH) Thread

Post #1 has date history. Obviously the past is never indicative of future results when Disney is concerned, but 2017 and 2018 saw a relatively similar date pattern.

2018 dates were announced in September, FWIW.

Also, towards the bottom of Post #1 are links to DISer event reviews/comments that are further in the thread. There is a lot of good info / opinion in the reviews.

Hope that helps!

I enjoyed it. Went to the last party in March. I wish it was about 30 degrees warmer, though. It was really cold! Enjoyed the low wait rides and snacks!

We were there that same night. Definitely was chilly! But it was our favorite part of our trip.

It was the best extra I have paid for at Disney. My family had a blast!

Don't listen to any of these people. I was at there Jan 30th this year. It was a horrible event. Terrible waste of money. You shouldn't go. But if you do, pick a different week for sure.

We went and loved it!!! We went 3/1 and it was perfect temperature wise. We had t-shirts and shorts and weren't cold at all. We aren't sure if we will be going again next year because we want to try Japan, but I'm super tempted to go just for DAH.

We were there March 8th. Unseasonably cold but we loved everything about it. Got in the park at 6pm (instead of 7pm) and had 3 FP for 630, 730 and 830.

I did note that we saw many guests without lanyards and the CM didn't stop them from boarding rides or obtaining free concessions. That was a bummer, because we did pay for the event. I would guess we came across about 50 guests minimum who had not purchased tickets and were able to still roam the park. That was the only downer.

I wouldn't say the park was empty by no means, but all rides were walk on. Rode everything we wanted multiple times.

I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It was AWESOME! My husband and I felt like kids going from ride to ride multiple times, and eating as much ice cream and popcorn as we wanted! We even grabbed a couple extra sodas on the way out for the hotel. It doesn’t sound like going solo would be an issue for you. I went on a few rides alone that my husband didn’t want to do and it was fine. You get to go in an hour before the park closes, so we got on Thunder Mountain while most people were watching the fireworks and we got to watch the fireworks while riding. It was really cool! We went on the first day of the event this past January and it was chilly but we really didn’t mind because we’re from up north so it seemed nice to us. We just wore hoodies and pants. Also, we didn’t see anyone getting on rides or getting concessions without the lanyards. I’m sad to hear that someone else experienced that.

I am going to be there during one of the weeks! I just saw this and am going to buy tickets today but need to call and confirm the date. They are showing Thursday July 20 as one of them but Thursday is the 19th. I would rather go on that Saturday since it is advertised as 4 hours instead of 3 but we are driving back the next day and I don't want to be too exhausted. It was so much fun back in January and well worth the AP price!

I just got them for two dates. I don't usually go to DW in the summer but since I'm going for TSL opening, I'd much rather experience MK without the heat (or crowds) at night.

We are also looking into the magic hours for next year. I know you buy the ticket separate for the event but do you need a ticket to get into the park itself?

For the Disney After Hours ticketed event (not to be confused with Extra Magic Hours or Early Morning Magic), no, you do not need regular park admission. Your DAH ticket lets you in the park at 7pm officially, around 6pm in practice.
