Disney Accom - does it get cheaper nearer the time?

Wondering about this as we've booked the Marriott (48 hr cancellation policy) as I was sure my DD2 would have started weaning by then (I'm pretty sure she will have still but just in case...). If she hasn't up to our trip I may try and book up a Disney hotel (because I think we may be better off being nearer/walking distance if we can) - I would be booking week before we leave, maybe even 72 hours before.

Do the hotels get cheaper much nearer the time if it's fairly quiet? We go end Sept for 5 nights so I don't expect it to be hugely busy?

Thanks in advance.

PS - Is there a way of booking room only at the Disney hotels - do you have to ring for this. As we want to buy APs and I know you can't get a 'refund' as such on passes included in a hotel deal.

I don't think they specifically get cheaper, although they do occasionally add a new offer / change the existing one which makes it a little cheaper. Not significantly though.

Hi,

You do have to phone the booking line to get room only prices. You usually have to already hold a valid AP to be able to book any room only onsite, as your AP number is required when you book. But you might get lucky and find a CM who will allow you to book room only, if you tell them you are buying APs as soon as you arrive.

I don't think prices go down much at all - Disney site prices are usually the cheapest around anyway for hotel/ticket package, and their prices are usually advertised in the brochure and onsite a good few months in advance. I've seen Expedia, Iglu, and lastminute.com come up with good prices for Disney hotels, more on a last minute basis - you might get lucky that way for September, especially if you are a standard family (2 adults, 2 children) as the price you see on those sites is likely to be roughly the price you pay (no underoccupancy etc). It might be worth having a look on those sites round about now, if you're planning on going in the next month or so.

Policy changed and you don't need to actually have AP or be a shareholder to book a room only. Just call up the number and request Bed & Breakfast only. Hotel prices won't change for room onlys. Any special rates or special offers are generally for hotel packages only (like free nights, etc). There are special AP rates, but you do need to have a valid AP for that. You can call the AP office and order the passes in advance, so you have it and then you can book the rooms if getting that special AP rate interests you.

Thanks for that - I'll have a look at Expedia etc - presume those prices will be B&B only and not include passes so will give me an idea :thumbsup2

I'd prefer to get the APs when we get there really but thanks for the idea :)

I'm sure we'll end up at the Marriott anyway as I'm pretty sure DD2 will be weaned by then (early stages but we'll still need the odd kitchen facility for her).

Personally, I would rather stay at a Villa in the Marriott with a baby than a DLP hotel. We are only staying at the Hotel New York because MVCI is fully booked next week.
