Disney 2010 with 4 month old..

Ok guys we told our selves last may, that we were going to wait at least 2 years before we went back to disney, but omg, we got the disney itch, and have booked again for this winter (jan 24th to 31st) at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani....we are sooooo excited, cant wait to return to our favorite hotel, and enjoy the african theme, as well as the best staff...AKL here we come...but


Now, for my questions... this year we will have two children, 3 and 4 months...any advice for a disney trip with a 4 month old please!!!
So, large stroller with carseat, vs umbrella stroller??
should we bring the sling??
will places heat up the bottle??
should we use one stroller for baby and rent one there for 3 year old, or use 2 of our own...??

HElP, lol...never done disney with such a young one...lol..

We'll be there mid-Jan with three kids, including an almost-4 mo old. I think we're going to rent a stroller from Orlando Stroller rentals-cheaper and nicer strollers than Disney, and you don't have to leave them in the park. We may rent a car if we can get a great rate-we're also planning to stay at Kidani. I think we'll get grocery delivery so we don't have to eat every meal out w/a 3 year old. I'll also bring my Ergo as baby seems to be much happier when worn.

We get garden grocers every time..its soo nice not to have to make a trip to the grocery store. Everything is always as requested and bell services delivers it to the door.
We will be there with my 3 yr old, my 24 yr old sister and possibly a 4 month old that we will be fostering. IF he comes, we will be bringing the sling and the mei tai wrap.
We live in NB Canada, but fly from either bangor or portland me.

We went with a 2 month old and barely 3 year old. And then again, when they were 9 months and 3.5 years old. We brought a stroller that could lie flat. It could be used with a carseat too but we didn't need that since it could lie flat. The 3 year old who hated strollers actually used the stroller a fair bit. I used a sling for baby but she didn't like to sleep in the sling for her second visit so the stroller lying down worked well - and then the sling over it to block out some of the stimulation. We have our next trip planned with a 6 year old, almost 4 year old, and 11 month old. We'll do the sling and single stroller again. I think it's easier to go before the youngest gets super mobile!

*I breastfeed so I'm not sure about the bottle. Would running it under hot water warm it up enough?

We eat breakfast in our room - cereal bars, juice boxes and fruit are easy. We do lunch at the parks. Dinner vary but that's usally the time we run out of steam. Sometimes we stop at places for dinner. Other times, my husband picks up something to bring back to the room.

My DD5 was 7 months the first time I took her and I did have her car seat that snapped into her stroller but found I only used that they first 2 days and then realized I didn't really need it because her stroller fully reclined and converted to a bassinet so I started leaving the car seat in the room. I also took my hip carrier for her which worked out fabulous because she really liked being in it and could see everything going on. She was also really good about sleeping/napping in the hip carrier which worked out awesome because then I didn't have to worry about not going on rides or needing to wake her to go on rides she just continued her nap while we stood in line and then went on the rides.
That trip was by far the easiest trip with her. As for bottles, I would bring 2 bottles of room temp water with me and use that for her bottles. She was okay with that being that it was hot out, however if you need to heat up a bottle all you'd need to do is hit one of the baby care centers, they have microwaves and stoves for moms to use. They also have fresh hot water from a water cooler. If you are in a restaurant then the first thing I'd do is ask if they could bring you a really hot cup/bowl of water to heat up a bottle and they will be more than happy to do so.

thans guys for all the help, great ideas.. i think we will try to find a stoller that is small but reclines well....and use the baby stations as much as possible...soooo excited

Honestly? I'd go with the carseat version... 4 mo olds can't hold themselves up well enough to sleep in an umbrella stroller PLUS you'd have room to store everything you are taking along!

YES!!! If you plan to do ANY TS, you won't really be able to take your stroller in. You can put baby in the sling during your meal and I can promise baby will get sick and tired of being in the stroller so having your sling gives baby a change of scenery.

will places heat up the bottle??
We always did room temp for both of our kids... Look for info on the Baby Care Centers in each park. I know they have BF stations and changing tables and such, but we didn't use them when we were there with DD (6mo) so I don't know if they'd have a microwave or anyway to heat water.

Disney strollers are hard plastic and very bumpy. I'd bring my own.

Here is a list of stuff to not forget:
- sunscreen
- hat
- sun shade
- anything and everything disposable (bibs, spoons - if you get on cereal by your trip, changing pads)
- more pacifiers than you think you'll need - you'll lose at least 1!!
- invest in the expensive premeasured formula packs or use a 3 chamber formula dispenser - it'll save you TONS of room in your day pack!
-rain gear (ponchos, rain slickers)

We took a bottle drying rack, small amount of dish soap, and a bottle brush to keep in our room. We used the Playtex drop-in system so we packed 2 bottle shells and 4 nipples. We'd haul 1 shell and 2 nipples for each part of our day so we wouldn't constantly be washing bottles in the park. We also used the rack to dry DSs sippy cups - but I think this next time we'll use the take and toss cups for both kids. We would pack super light for the parks and refill our supplies on breaks (formula, diapers, wipes)

We also packed a "homemade" rain shield. I ran over to Walmart and bought some yardage of plastic (you know the stuff that grandma used to put on the furniture back in the day?? it's still around...) When it rained we could throw that over the top of the stroller and it kept everything dry.

DD was actually easier to handle that our pre-schooler! She would sleep on the rides and woke up when it was over. She didn't care for Wishes though...

All this information is a great help. I plan on going to disney with my now 10day old baby boy in April and he will be 7 months old then. I plan on bringing my own stroller, although we are not staying onsite, we will just be driving to disney from Indian Shores for day trips, as my inlaws stay down there on the beach for the whole month and it will save us in a hotel, plus will give us a babysitter so we can do disney on our own for a day as well.
