We got to bed early last night (Cant sleep, Im too excited), and at 4:20 woke up before the alarm went off. Made myself a pot of coffee and woke the kids. Zulaya was not happy I did that, but I figured it was only 5 minutes early.
Grandparents on Zulayas side picked us up at the prescribed time and we got to the airport in plenty of time. Note to self: Remove cell phone from belt before going through security.
The flight to Atlanta was fine. We landed ahead of schedule, and were able to just meander to our next gate, also stopping for some lunch at the main terminal.
We landed in Orlando without a problem. Went to get our bags and our largest bag the one with DW and my clothes in it was missing. We waited around for about 20 minutes, hoping that the conveyer would finally spit it out of the magic hole in the wall.
Lost Luggage. Dang. Headed over to the Delta Luggage office and they had no idea where our luggage was. We had the copy of the tag off of the bag, but they dont scan it upon departure, just upon arrival. And our bag did not arrive with us in Orlando. Or maybe it did, but was sent on without us. I didnt know.
Extremely pissed off at the Not-Helpful Delta Help desk people, we stormed off to National and grabbed a red/wine colored Jeep Liberty and headed out to Disney.
We arrived at BCV, and Zulaya says that check in was more of a pain than normal. It never seems to go as easy as she wants, but Im more of a roll with it type of guy, and didnt really care. We were at Disney!
Our room wasnt ready so we grabbed the kids suits and headed for SAB. At about 16:00, we were assigned our room, #s 157+159, 2BR at BCV. DW was initially irked at location, but warmed up to it, as it was good-n-close to the quiet pool.
Zulaya was on the phone with Delta/Grandparents/Brother-who-travels-too-much to figure out what had happened turns out our bag went to Puerto Rico and the next flight from PR to MCO wasnt going to land until tomorrow at about 13:30. *sigh* Oh, well. Well make do. Turn the underwear inside out and trade shirts or something. Not a big deal.
We went to dinner at Kona Café. The Polynesian was awesomely decorated for Christmas, as usual. Our first time at Kona for dinner, and we loved it. Check out our reviews on the Restaurant Board.
Since Delta decided to ship our main bag to Puerto Rico, I had to run to Target for some essentials. (Can anyone say undies?)
I forgot that the shuttle was lifting off as I was going to get the rental car, and I was wondering why people were running, not walking, running, into the parking lot. Got outside and turned around and saw in the sky, why. There was a streak of light about the length of a pencil and a dull rumble as the space shuttle lifted off. I called Zulaya on the cell phone, but she and the kids didnt make it out to see the shuttle until it was a point of light in the sky. I remembered to save the receipt as the Delta manager on the phone told us wed get reimbursed $25 per person per 24 hours after we were supposed to land. (HAH!)
Oh, yeah, if you want to see pictures of our trip(s), go to our Gallery
