I am always getting asked for my opinion on the best way to do this or that at Disney. Everyone knows I'm a fanatic - and I don't mind the reputation (I've been called much worse :rotfl2: ). I have realized that we should come up with a Disney 101 course for people who are getting ready for their first trip. We could even follow up with a 102 and 103 for more experienced travellers and special trips.

I've been putting together (well - I started but haven't finished) a PowerPoint that points out the biggest questions that need to be decided early on (what's their budget, when to go, onsite versus offsite, etc).

What do you experts think are other major choices folks need to make before they start planning their first trip?

What a fun idea! I love it!

I thnk the most important thing about a Disney trip is to realize that there is ALOT to do and see and you can't do it all in one trip. (This will be our 4th trip and we aren't even close to seeing it all). With this in mind, they need to be flexible in their planning (and yes they should do SOME planning). Visiting Disney isn't like speding a week at a beach though they'll probably need a week at the beach to re-coup! Flexability will allow for much more enjoyment espcially when the line to Peter Pan is 2hrs long!

Can't wait to read more!:wizard:

I've done something like this! I got tired of typing up all that information over and over again in an e-mail when someone asks me for help. So the last time, I just put it in a Word document and saved it. (Not quite a power point but maybe I will enhance it one day!)

I split it into categories: (It's saved to my other computer so this is what I remember...)
-Where to stay
-Package vs. room only
-Dining
-Tickets
-Transportation
-Fast Pass

I'm sure there were more categories, I just can't think of it at the moment.

Good luck! Sounds fun!

ADR's. So many people have NO IDEA that you need to have ADR's in place so early.

Fast Passes, again many people have no clue what they are, or how to go about using them to save time.

Of all the things I learned on the DIS, those are probably the ones that made the most difference in our trips.

Magical Express vs. rental car. First timers may not even realize they don't have to rent a car is they are staying on property. Park events like MNSSHP, MVMCP, Food and Wine Festival and Flower and Garden Festival.

Need a graph of crowd levels throughout the year so people who worry about going at a crowded time can easily pick a valley.
