Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Coming to former Reflections Site in 2027!

Knock down, build big tower that doesn't fit in with the rest of the resort, nothing unique or special anymore, repeat..

It's a worn down model that DVC is using, isn't it, @off to neverland? It's the cheapo's way out. Coming up with a unique resort design/theme in all aspects must be BEYOND Disney's means these days.

For example, there was a 1970s resort FAR planned out initially between the Contemporary Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center. It was to be an "ATLANTIS" (water) themed resort. That's unique to WDW these days, no? And builders/engineers know how to build on most types of Florida land these days, no? And Imagineers can design anything, no? (Their sub-contractors, not so much).

It's a great location, would be a great idea, would SELL OUT in spades. But DVC takes an easy way out to latch onto the existing Fort Wilderness. I guess that means DVC doesn't have a lot of confidence in their creativity and design capabilities. They're telling us everything we already know. We should listen to them when they end up SHOUTING at us like they do now. They're literally WAVING the flag of surrender. But hey, SOMEONE will buy this new stuff (eventually).

Another thing to remember is the Campers made the resort so special and unique and popular because of the Traditions the campers created at their own cost …the decorations for Halloween and the Holidays are truly a big deal for Disney and their guests… We’re talking at least October November and December valuable entertainment for guests and profit for Disney ..
Obviously it is Disneys property and they have the right . It’s kind of like buying a house with empty lots all around your property…knowing one day Construction would arrive …I guess a 3 story resort with the memory of River Country theming would have been tolerated easily but 10 stories is scary ugly.

Listen to what @DL1WDW2 is saying.

Many of the things that made Fort Wilderness great was campers doing things for campers.

If you plop down a DVC resort with hundreds of dead hotel rooms to overrun the campers' offerings then the campers will stop coming (and decorating) since it will only be a 'one-way relationship'. I only point this out because I can be Captain Obvious.

But I don't have any faith in DVC employing any kind of self-restraint. Because they have shown us there is none.

And when the DVC ramble walk around asking "where is all our free entertainment"? We will say

After the time share opening I give it 3 years to get to this point. As Rush would say, "Flag the tape".

No that land is still not stable and the hotel was to be named The Venetian.

Stable? Already addressed that issue.

Name games? It's only water.

Thanks,good talk. Bama Ed

PS - and maybe someday the boats will run again all day long between WL-FW-CR. we can only hope, can't we?

What did they knock down to build this resort? An old, long abandoned water park. I'll reserve my opinion on the way it fits into the rest of the resort until it's finished.

They knocked down Mickey’s Backyard BBQ to build this resort.

You have to feel sorry for the Disney/DVC Marketing people at this point. Any reasonable person WOULD feel sorry for them.

There is the "Disney's Wilderness Lodge" which is a wonderful representation of our national park hotels.

Now Disney proposes their "Disney's Lakeside Lodge" which they have unceremoniously dumped on the old River Country Property.

Not to go too far on the WAY BACK machine but there is already the confusion over Fort "Wilderness" and "Wilderness" Lodge.

They don't have a very big vocabulary, do they? Fort W vs W Lodge? W Lodge vs D Lakeside Lodge? I bet a lot of luggage and grocery deliveries end up in the wrong place initally.

Ooops. I turned the selfie camera on briefly while my brother was here. Still, name games are lame (hey it rhymes, no?). Of course it does.

PS - I still think I can type 40 words per minute like I used to do in high screwel. Watch me. How'm I doin'?

PPS - That ugly DVC resort is STILL an eyesore.

I know this has probably been answered before, but do you expect this resort to start selling next year based on the previous resorts sell dates? Do they start selling before its even ready for viewing?

That "possible beach cabanas" headline sure is clickbait and/or sloppy blog reporting, in my humble opinion. That work on the former Clementine's Beach between Pioneer Hall and the water is clearly for the cabins/treehouses (or whatever they end up being called) that were a part of the original plan, which I suspect is largely unchanged. The first row sits right up on the water's edge.

The cool kid's opinion is that this sure is an UGLY towering eyesore over a classic, original WDW resort.

Not much serious argument on that point.

But yes, sadly, there are two rows of cabins on the beach between Bay Lake and the side porch of Trails End and it appears that it still the plan. Plus the floors with the rooms over the dumpsters, unloading docks, and roof views (waiting for the next [il] logical response), I'm sure, will be HIGHLY sought after/requested. :sad2:

I'm not Helen Keller but I can SEE the Obvious.

They paved Wilderness,
And put up a DVC
Ooh,bop,bop,bop.

That's been referred to often here, @WEDWDW .

Joni Mitchell's voice is in our HEADS.

(Technically the song is 'Big Yellow Taxi'). Why, I don't know really because the 'paved paradise' line is the clincher.

Hello. Dave.

No further updates yet on the River Country timeshare other than more recent construction pics from @proudmomof4 .

Some recent pics. I’m guessing these are the beginnings of the originally proposed A-frame lakefront cabins. These are from the FW/boat dock/Pioneer Hall side of the resort. Not pictured, there is another A-frame structure also now up along the water on the ‘west side’ of the resort (the WL side) where the original plans had another set of cabins.
