Great Update Ellen !!I noticed Kara looke like she was constipated in one of the "Loungeshots !!:rotfl2:Was it the lack of a Beer Bong!!!!:lmao:

You mean this one?

Yeah, Ellen just has a way with creating ITSK pictures!!!!

I feel like I might have been singing ooga chunka ooga ooga......

The three of us woke up to have breakfast in Concierge and say good-bye to Kara, who had the drive home through God-knows-what-kind-of-weather ahead of her. We were SO SAD she was leaving, and agreed that NEXT year, our DISmom trip needed to be ALL DISmoms, the WHOLE time!!:yay:

Well, Lonnie and I scooted out the door, because we needed to get to Epcot for the Gardens of the World tour. This is 3 hours of hows and whys of the F&G festival, and it is only offered during the festival. Both Loni and I love to garden (although my yard currently looks like crap due to no mulch and tons of rain and cool temperatures this year- a BAAAAAAD combo) so we were looking forward to hearing how Disney does it. What was cool was that the CM could pull apart the planters to show us how they were done, something we obviously could never do. And, of course, it was RAINING. So that always makes for a good time! Here are some photos from our tour-

And with some Disney magic, look what they become!

Our CM Guide from the Disney Institute said they do these gardens free-hand, the planters are given diagrams and that's it. I'd really love to do this at home- but it might get in the way of my lovely weed topiaries I have going, so looks like I'll have to pass-

The gardens in France were so beautiful-

Lonnie left in France- she had an appointment for a massage at the Grand Floridian, so I would meet up with her there after the tour at Tea.:goodvibes We moved on to England, which the CM guide (I'm so sorry I'm so bad with names!) thinks is a very amusing country-

2009_052006summer0361.jpg

I used to have Hollyhocks just like these! Fortunately, WEEDS took over instead!

2009_052006summer0364.jpg

We ended the tour in Canada.

In Canada, we actually went backstage (and can i just say- those mountains don't look nearly as pretty from behind!) and were each given a F&G poster to bring home, which was very nice! I really liked that nameless CM, this was a nice tour, but I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much if I wasn't so into gardening weeds. Since I was in Canada, Idecided to see O Canada (the movie). Loni and I had missed it last year, opting to go drink more cocktails at last call in England instead. My first time seeing the newer version, Martin Short is a funny, funny guy.:rotfl:

Next- we are SOOOOOOOOOOO well dressed for High Tea at the GF!!!

Love the pics from the tour!

I've only ever seen the movie from Canada on you tube. I can't do circle vision.

How pretty... ya I got weeds here too! but there my weeds LOL

Ellen, will you STOP with the not so flattering pics of me??????

I can't help it- it's my God-given talent- taking ITSK pics of you.

Kara, we love you cuz you're so real!

Speak for yourself. I love her because she makes me look like a photographer extraordinare!!!:snooty:

Oh, that SUCKS!!! I love those movies, especially because they make you feel like you're moving- so cool!!:cool1:

How pretty... ya I got weeds here too! but there my weeds LOL

In the east, we have had a very bad growing season because of the cold temps and excess rain in June- tomatoes are literally falling off the vine-Blech!
BTW, did you book on the cruise yet? I'd hate to have to throw Pods overboard so you could fit in my cabin!:rotfl:

AT 2 pm, Lonnie and I met at the podium of the Garden View Lounge at the GF for Tea. This was something that the AKL Concierge had told me was one of her favorite "girlie" experiences, and being that we are girlies, I thought we should give it a try. Of course, since it WAS a girlie experience, I had planned on wearing a pretty sundress and hat to be fully acceptable for the event. However.....as we all know by now, the weather was not cooperating with any sundresses or straw hats on this vacation, so I was dressed down in my favorite (at this point, read despised!) poncho and wet flops with an oh so feminine red DVC cap. I felt so stinkin pretty! :cutie: :rotfl: Anyway.....we were seated by a window, overlooking the downpour, which did provide loads of entertainment while we were there- always fun to wonder how the guy running through the rain at his $400+ a night hotel is feeling about his choice of accomodations right then....but, fortunately for us, that was not our problem. Our problem was to decide which tea to have- well, the Grand Tea comes with a glass of sparkling wine, so I'll give you one guess as to what we chose. :drinking1 We asked which teas came in a pot instead of a press, and ordered those- I had the gardenview blend, and I think Loni had earl grey or chai, but now I'm not sure, sorry!

The tea wench...uhhh...server, Angela, pours-

2009_052006summer0373.jpg

First the finger sandwiches, onion tart & pate-

2009_052006summer0374.jpg

I don't know about you, but I LOVE me some finger sandwiches!! There is just something about egg salad on white bread with the crusts cut off and then carefully cut into matching triangles that screams special to me. It just tastes better, doesn't it? Actually, everything on the plate tasted BETTER- all the food at this tea was YUMM-O-LICIOUS!!

2009_052006summer0376.jpg

A toast to drowned and drenched girlie fun!

2009_052006summer0377.jpg

And I also added an order of Sally Lunn Bread, just to see how it was. In case you're wondering, it was YUM!

Next was the scone with devonshire cream and a jam tart-

2009_052006summer0382.jpg

That scone was the lightest, most delicate scone I have ever tried. WOW. I could eat a hundred. Yum yum YUM! As if we weren't full enough, we then had our choice of strawberries and cream or English trifle. I am not a big strawberry fan (I KNOW! It's CRAZY!!!) but I am a big trifle fan, so we got that. We sent our wench...ummm, server, Angela,....off to serve it up!:stir:

2009_052006summer0383.jpg

Yum again!

2009_052006summer0384.jpg

We polished off every last crumb and drop of tea deliciousness, and watched the torrents of rain from our dry (well, damp, now that WE had been sitting there for an hour) seats-

These ladies left the tea room while we were there. They did NOT get the memo about the costume change that I did-

2009_052006summer0388.jpg

They did look purty, though! well, we rolled outta the Garden View Lounge and into the GF....where we contemplated our next move-

2009_052006summer0393.jpg

We nosed around a bit (very nice bathrooms at the GF! And VERY expensive clothes for sale!) before deciding to get the car (HAH! This time it was the valet's problem to figure out the color it was!) and go on a quest....a quest for drier, warmer . That's it! Just somewhere drier and warmer! Hmmmm.... where would that cozy place be????

hmm that tea might be perfect for me and my girls when we go in a year and half. I'll send Tim fishing again. It is truely amazing what all WDW holds. People don't get it when I say it is more than the attractions.

Are you and Kara going to be on the same cruise this winter? That will be crazy!

I would DEFINITELY go back to that tea- it was very well done. Even the tea wench- umm, server, Angela, was very proper and tea-ish. Very girlie/ mother/daughter friendly. You're right, it's amazing what WDW has beyond the parks. And how much $$ you can drop beyond the parks! Did Tim go fishing at WDW? In Bay Lake? Did he catch a ton of fish? That was something I had hoped to do with my DSs this November- but I gave them a choice of fishing or golf, and they are picking golf.

And no, we are not on the same cruise with Kara- that is during tax season, and DH can't go then. We are going on the Oct 30th 2010 western DCL and are trying to talk Drea into going, too.

Ally and I are going to the GF for afternoon tea next Saturday!!!! I can hardly wait - and I think we are going to "dress up" too! Ally doesn't know it yet, and she doesn't understand the whole "tea" thing, but she'll love it when she realizes she gets to be all purty!!!!

Oh, you will LOVE it!!! Hey- are you still going to be around on Sunday? Because Pods & I are getting to Epcot around 1:00......

Might be close - we have lunch at Crystal Palace at 2ish, I think. Unless we cancel - Ally is sooooo not happy about dining with Pooh. :rotfl2: You've got my number, call me!!!! Love to meet you and Pods for a quick minute!

I just logged into DCL for the first time since making my reservation. Can I just tell you my hands are shaking now? I have those warm fuzzies when an upcoming Disney trip is finally REAL!!!!! I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED all of a sudden!!!!!

Thinking of keeping this trip a surprise from Ally - she knows I booked it, but she doesn't know when. This might be fun!

Yes I sent him fishing on our 4th day there. He's not a big disney freak like me so I needed something for him to do. He doesn't golf and said that the spa was a bit girly for him. He took off from DTD and headed up toward the tree houses on the river. He went mid-day but did catch his largest bass ever. He said he would do it again if he could go in the morning. The midday price wasn't too bad- I think $150 for a few hours. The AM ones sounded better and he really wants to go again. He loves his fishing. This was the first year that I can remember that he didn't get to Canada to go Muskie fishing.

OOOOO! That's so cool!! AND so exciting!! Do you have a passporter? You should definitely get one- it's so great planning for the cruise. I am so happy for you!:yay:

We have a Caymus wine tasting (mmmmmm....LOVE that wine!) at 2 until 3- ya want to meet after that, right before you go home? Are you going home on Sunday, or Monday? Our kids have off on Monday up here- not that that matters to US! :rolleyes1
