Thanks all for the wishes. He should be fine....we are some hard headed Irishmen! :lmao: Plus he has a pretty young lady back in Maryland he's sweet on. I know she's calling him pretty regular. There is an outside chance in June if he's well enough to travel he may get sickleave and head for home for a while. I will never see him if he comes home though.....see the afore mentioned pretty young lady! :lovestruc

Poor Dad, been replaced by a fair Maiden, Sorry :grouphug:

Well it looks like I'm headed back to the North (again) For someone whose job does NOT involve travel--they seem to be having me do a lot of it!

I'll be in the Univ of MD area June 1 & 2 and then Vienna, VA June 3 & 4.

I will probably fly in Sunday, May 31. And I HAVE to fly home June 4because --June 5 I fly to DISNEY WORLD!!!!

If anyone wants to try to get together give a shout out. My evenings are pretty free as I visited almost ALL of the family last month and will see most of them at Myrtle Beach at the end of June.

National Harbor Sells Land to Disney
Site Being Considered for New Resort Hotel

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD (May 19, 2009) - The Peterson Companies announced today the sale of land at its National Harbor development near Washington, DC to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney is considering using the 15-acre site overlooking the Potomac River in National Harbor, MD as the location for a resort hotel for families and others visiting the National Capital Region.
“We’re thrilled Disney has decided to invest in National Harbor,” said Milton V. Peterson, chairman of the Peterson Companies. “Disney is the top family entertainment company in the world, and its purchase is a great vote of confidence in the future of National Harbor and the Washington area as a top family tourism destination.”

The new resort hotel would be one of Disney’s stand-alone resort hotels separate from the Disney theme parks. This new resort hotel, like the project under construction in Hawaii, will be in a prime geographic location and will provide guests with the same comfort, fun and amenities for which Disney is famous.

“As we began identifying possible locations to grow our business, the Washington, DC area immediately jumped to the top of the list,” said Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “National Harbor offers an array of entertaining activities for regional visitors, but it is also a family-friendly base camp, from which visitors from around the world can explore the stirring sights and inspirational stories of our nation’s capital. We believe National Harbor has the unique opportunity to offer a new level of family-friendly hospitality.”

Disney purchased the Maryland property from the Peterson Companies for $11 million.

interesting. And makes some sense. Afterall, Disney also has some owned interest in Williamsburg. Having property north and south of the area (meaning Hilton Head as south) maybe would also increase some draw to that too.

Disney is planning on building a 500 room Resort on this piece of property. This could also integrate with the Adventures by Disney Mid-Atlantic tour of Philadelphia, Williamsburg and Washington, D.C.

Disney seems to be on a trend of Resort properties that are not tied to the theme parks. This isn't the first time they've owned property in the D.C. area, but I doubt this one will bring the controversy that surrounded Disney's America.

They dont own in Virginia for this... its in Maryland.

Sounds like a new DVC location. . .

That's what I thought too... A resort with some DVC rooms would really work here. The property could also be a great Mid-Atlantic hub for Adventures by Disney.

I JUST had a conversation this weekend with some friends who've invested in the harbor and they were telling me to buy there...:rolleyes1

Hope this doesn't jack up the price too much...:sad2:
