13 days to departure! While I got some things checked off last week, I ended up adding about 15 items on the pre departure to-do list (this includes house and trip related tasks) at the same time. Thankfully, this weekend has some clear weather ahead so I can get many of the outdoor items checked off. With any luck next weekend will be wrapping up any remaining minor tasks and focus on the loading up. And most important, a trip with Melissa to our favorite winery to unwind and spend some time together, and make sure to stock up some wines to bring down and share....

I will roll out the putt putt rules in the next few days.

There is a post on a Facebook page the there is no overflow parking for trailers due to cabin construction? They are saying you have to park trailers at Port Orleans. Gonna call tomorrow and see if I can get answers

Well the grass field (near the Hitch/Unhitch area) they normally used for Halloween overflow is full of the construction trailer stuff and crap. This was in January 2024 when I was there and it ain't got any better lately.

If you can't put it on your FW site then you have to put it somewhere else. I'm not on FB but I was at the Fort in January and said the same thing. Maybe WAY somewhere else? Which begs the question is it worth it?

Because of the DVC cabin construction crews there is no overflow parking in the big grass (now mud) field along Hitch/Unhitch. It's all given over to the DVC construction crews until Spring 2025.

Helen Keller saw this trailer/truck overflow snafu coming. Ray Charles too.

Less is more, Joe.

@tigger92662 I had not seen anything myself following several pages and groups. Though would not be surprised that if you cannot fit it in your site you may have to take it elsewhere. Good news, you know a bunch of us and I am sure we can find a way to help out so you dont have to drag it there yourself.

Main reason I'm not trailering the golf cart over for the DISmeet. I figured the golf cart is a smaller footprint in the loops than my truck. The other reason is trying to get the trailer back in the storage lot after dark.

Ok people, trying to figure out my route since the bridge we take was tragically lost last year. I was going to take 301, across the william preston memorial bridge, but lots of traffic and the website says you can reserve drivers to drive across it for you has me thinking it's not going to be camper friendly. So that leaves the 695 western? bypass around baltamore or head north west to Gettysburg and then south. Both add a bit of time. Anyone cross that bridge on the 301? 1st leg of the trip will be a tad under 8 hours without stops. So probably 10 hrs.

Ok, I was overruled on trying the bridge out. We watched a vidio, and it wasn't too bad, untill 7ncom8ng traffic and 18 wheelers entered the equation. So, hard no from the family. It's probably a good idea to listen to them.

Happy wife, happy life.

It is not for the faint of heart I hear, good move. I695 around Baltimore is like I95/495 around DC, its all about timing to avoid most of the traffic on both. If you come down US15 to US17 to I95 in Frericksburg, the route is not that bad. I have towed my 5th wheel on the entire route and more from Gettysburg to Fredricksburg. It's not that stressful and there are some places to stop along the way with a trailer. US15 to US17 to I95 is the route I plan to take and lead Jenn down. Stop for some diesel in the Ashland area, and then truck it down till we hit our overnight stop at South of the Border.

If you take the US15 route, just wave when you see the 7-11 when the road opens up from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. I am just 2 miles down that road!

Oh and fair warning, If you take I295 around Richmond, keep your eyes open for the frost heaves between south of I64 to the James River Bridge. Some are pretty gnarly and I usually roll around 55 in that area just so I am not trying to tame a bucking broncho when you hit one. They have milled them down a little, but not enough.

Man had a great weekend of weather, yet I barely got much done. Saturday morning we had brunch plans with the girls aunt and cousins. Then it was off to early voting where Lauren voted in her first ever election!!! I finally got home around 1pm and got to work! Managed to get the interior of the truck all cleaned up and removed the entire racing season of dirt and grime. Pretty much finished up around 6pm and took the evening off to spend with Melissa.

Today started off a little slow, dropped the pups off at daycare and got breakfast. It was just before 11 when I got outside and due to full sun on the driveway started to work on the golf cart getting that buttoned up. As I am tinkinger I kept smelling gas. I though well sun is on the zero turn, maybe if vented a little. Soon the smell got stronger. I go over and look and gas is just dripping from the zeroturn. Turns out the fuel like rubbed through after 560 hours and started leaking!!! Thankfully I had some fuel line around, so I siphoned out about 2.5 gallons from the tank, removed the old hose and replaced the entire line with new. Put a gallon back in for leak check and so far so good.

After that hour plus delay, I had shade on the driveway again and got to work on the truck. I finished polishing it by last light. I need to remind myself not to wait nearly 2 years to do that. Man that paint was dirty and it took a good amount of time to polish up a nice shine. Though with that done, waxing it tomorrow will be a breeze and then the truck fall maintinece is done!!

Gonna make some time this week to work on things after work. Goal is to be loading up by next weekend and no more projects....lets see how that goes.

We arrived Saturday the 19th. All set up on site on 1717!
For overflow, they are indeed sending people over to Riverside. Our site was not ready when we arrived around noon and we were told if there was nothing available in the normal overflow lot to head over to Riverside to wait. Luckily we found a spot to wait it out in the Fort's overflow lot and our site was ready in 45 minutes.

I was wondering how you were doing that with your 5er. I didn't think you were triple towing.

Yes, she agreed to tow it down for me instead of her car. She has some off Disney plans and offered my truck as her local transportation.

@Teamubr It would not be the first time...probably not the last either. Though I try to avoid it if I can.

I never really considered it. I think Illinois is one of the states that bans it, but haven't had the need.

Now if DW let me get a boat or golf cart, I may have to try hooking something to the back of the Jeep behind the back of the MH. :)

The DISMeet 2024 Caddyshack Putt Putt Tournament Challenge is now on the books!

Back in February 2024, we were discussing the putt-putt courses at WDW and it would be fun to have a competition between us during the DISMeet. The conversation (smack talking) started in the Chit Chat thread linked below and then migrated to the DISMeet thread (also linked below).

Given everyone's daily calendars are helter skelter, I've modified the initial discussion and will adjudicate the following rules (which makes me ineligible to win the grand prize):

1. Play and score 18 holes on a Disney Putt-Putt course during your DISMeet stay (honor system scoring). No gimme's allowed - put it in the hole.

2. When I arrive, I will have a drop box/recepticle for scorecards to be dropped into SIGNED (legible name) and WITH campsite number AND DIS relationship (DIS member themself, spouse of DIS member, wolf cub of DIS Member, etc.).

3. Scorecards must be submitted before 5pm on Thursday November 7 when I will render my verdict soon after and deliver said prize.

4. Suspect scores (18 hole in ones? :sad2: ) will be tossed out at Hizzoner's sole discretion and those decisions will be final.

5. In the event of an 18-hole total score tie between multiple players, Hizzoner will compare hole-by-hole scores beginning with #18 and working backwards (so finish strong).

Hizzoner (me) and Herroner (DW) are arriving before Halloween and I will get over to the Palm/Magnolia Golf Gift Shop and secure a suitable grand prize to award to the winner on the 7th (who can then buy the drinks for everyone on the 19th Hole).

We leave for home on Friday morning November 8 so the deadline in #3 is a firm one.

No cheating, no foot wedges, and no candy bars in the pool.

Good luck to all!

Not sure if any of the states from here to FL ban or permit it. But in 2016 I doubled up 5th wheel and golf cart to Disney. No isssues either direction, it was the first time I could not sort out another way.

Next trip is in June and the GC is comming in a freinds toy hauler (he owns it....), and then going to rent a second one. This trip was just a chance to save money over a Disney rental and Kenny was already booked by the time I called.
