DISmeet at D23 Expo! - Meet dates in 1st Post

We're less than 10 days away from the Expo and some of the meets are beginning to firm up. Keep checking here for more updates as they are finalized.

So far two meets are scheduled.

Meet #1 - Thursday August 18, 2011 8:00PM in the lounge at the Anaheim Hilton.

Meet #2 - Friday August 19, 2011 about an hour before the doors open at the Starbucks in the Hilton. **Note as more times are announced this will become more concrete.

Here is a LGMH that we can all print out and use to recognize each other if we can't make the meets

The D23 Expo is just around the corner! Well, it's happening this year!

If you're interested in a DISmeet at the Expo, this is the place to keep in touch! Once they release the schedule we'll find a time that won't interfere with Expo events to get together and meet up! Since the Convention Center is such a busy place, let's plan on meeting in the food court at the Hilton (just next door to the Convention Center). Join in here to see how this meet develops and we can get together with fellow DISers!

I’m posting a list of everyone who has responded to this thread, and will add the newcomers as they join in. If you haven’t already indicated in your post please list your travel dates and we’ll organize one or more meets. I think we should all meet up on Thursday night with our friends that have the Sorcerer’s package so that they can tell us all about their show floor preview.

Great idea and you beat me to it! I have been wanting to get some time to organize a D23 expo thread here. Looks like you are the one now!

I may be traveling solo to D23 Expo and will be looking for people to hang with at the expo...

I'll be attending this year's Expo (didn't get to attend in 09) with my friend Michele and we just can't wait! I'd love to attend a DIS meet - my first one. Hilton sounds like a good idea to me. Now if we could just get an inkling as to what the schedule will be like for the Expo but think we'll be waiting for a while yet.

I'll be at the D23 Expo later this year with my DA. It was so fun at the 2009 D23 Expo and looking forward to the one in August. I am looking forward to meeting some of you at the Expo.

Not sure I'll go, but I hope you guys organize some teams that are really competitive for a scavenger hunt.

Maybe a team that plays fair, and another that plays dirty to compete with any cheaters from last summer who decided to repeat their preformance.

Wow! Sherry, if you think this thread is worth being in the the meet sticky that would be great! I'm sure there will a ton of DISers going to the Expo so it would be really fun to plan a few meets. As it gets closer to the event I'm sure there will be more and more people checking in.

I think so! I read your first post and thought, "This sounds like a Meet thread." So, however it's organized, as you say, I'm sure others will be checking in and maybe some folks can use this thread to arrange meets. In any case, I'll add it!

I am really excited about going this year. I can't wait. I was wondering though if anyone knows, I plan on staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Is the convention center walking distance? I guess more so if it's a doable walk or should I just drive?

As long as you are an able bodied person who is free of afflictions or disabilities, the walk should be no problem. Parking at the convention center is $12 per day and it can be a mess. They might also be running the ART shuttle for a small fee.

Absolutely!

I will also have to read up on all things Disneyland. THis will be my first trip to Disneyland along with the D23 Expo.
