Judy these are wonderful! I actually came to the creative board to find a design for Lucas. We're celebrating his 8th bday while at Disney on Sydney's Wish Trip and I thought a special Tshirt for him would be nice. I'm looking for a birthday design saying 8th birthday with Stitch. I like this one you've done with Mickey http://www.4shared.com/photo/rfX2eNiS/Birthday_2.html Is there any way you could do a similar one (or even something different) with Stitch?

Sure Can! I'll come up with Something. Did you want his name on it? or "it's my Birthday" or "I'm 8 today" or "Happy 8th Birthday Lucas".
How is Sydney doing? Did you want a Children's Wish Disign for a shirt for her? Taryn doesn't go to CHEO anymore, her next After Care Appt. will be her 1st at the General (Dr. Mandel heads up that clinic, so it's a pretty good transfer of care, or, "easing them into the adult hospital". Guess you've got years ahead of you before Sydney ever makes it over there! LOL

How about 'Happy 8th Birthday Lucas'? He'll have a name tag but it might be nice to have it on the shirt too. Could you also do a similar one with It's my 8th Birthday! just in case?

I'm so happy to hear Taryn is doing well. That's going to be a real change for her going to the General. Sydney is doing really really well. Its been a rough year. Her tests came back strange last fall and we were told lab error. Then they released her from the clinic permanently in the spring and we were called 3 wks later that there was another problem with her tests. They believed there were still neuroblastoma cells in her body but that they were becoming normal so I was told not to worry. Right. We actually couldn't meet with her doctors, just talk with the nurse. We asked for further testing and they said no. We decided to take her to the US. I found a specialist there and spoke with her on the phone. She agreed to meet Sydney, do a ct, redo her urine and review her file. Shortly after requesting her records from CHEO, MDU called and said her doctors could meet with us. The timing was ... interesting. Anyway, we did meet with them and they were wonderful but even though they refered to her as having a 'mass' in her abdomen, they wouldn't scan her. We brought her to Chicago the following day. Just an amazing place! Bottom line is, there's nothing there. CT scan was clear, urine was clear. It was a lab issue at CHEO. Our next apptmt is in Sept and I expect they'll release her from care again. Sydney's situation is different from Taryn's because she was so young when diagnosed and because she had a complete resection of the tumor. They don't follow these kids as long... 3 yrs post surgery usually. Makes me nervous honestly but Chicago said the same thing so I have to have faith in what they're saying.

Oh my, that was longer than I planned. LOL. Thank you for the offer of a wish design. I actually was on the board months ago requesting designs for Sydney so I have quite a few. She is part of the Big Give on the Disboards and some wonderful ladies are going to make her some shirts with the designs. I had planned to but just gave up. I have no idea how to do this I figure one for Lucas I may be able to handle, many for Sydney's special trip, no way. That brings me to a question, I don't have a reliable colour printer. Is there a place in Ottawa where I can get a design printed on transfer paper? (I have a friend that can do it if there's no place I can bring it to) Also, what transfer paper do you use? I've heard of AmyMickey's paper and if I ever do this again, I'll use that but I don't think I have time to order it in before we go... any suggestions?

Thats great news about Sydney. I can understand the frustration you must have had with the scan issues at CHEO. Taryn was part of some study, where they scanned her brain last year, and called her back as the 1st scan wasn't clear (maybe they need a new scanner?, or a new technician). Was Dr. Halton in on the decision to not do a scan even though they thought there was a mass there? Very strange indeed, but I'm glad it has all been worked out and you were able to get reassurance from a 2nd party in Chicago!

As for transfer paper. Hmmm, I'm not a good one to ask that. I made shirts for the first and so far only time for Taryn's end of Chemo trip last fall. Some shirts have survived, but others, the colors ran when the shirts got wet (like washed the first time, or when it rained when they were being worn). I used Avery transfer paper. The turned out beautifully, the colors SO Vibrant, but then that issue when they got wet. Why some didn't run, and most did I don't understand. As for a place to print them, call staples and see if they can do them. If you are in the Kanata area, I can do them for you as well (no cost, you just bring the transfer paper) I've only found that one brand around, although I think recently at Walmart, I did see a different brand.

Have you been to Bayshore recently? Candlelighters in conjunction with Bayshore have put on a HUGE display in support of Candlelighters. Taryn is featured and her Bead necklace are featured in that display! They need volunteers on the 24th of this month to promote and take donations for the gold childhood cancer awareness pins. Bayshore is having a special promotion on that day for their patrons to win tickets to see Michael Bublé and the Black Eyed Peas in concert! The Display is on the Main Level in the mall, check it out sometime this summer!

OMG Judy! Those designs are perfect! Lucas is going to love them! Now, which to choose Thanks so much for the offer to print it. I may take you up on that. I think I'll try to find other paper though. I keep hearing that AmyMickey's paper is the best so maybe she can get it here in time... I'll look into it.

I heard on the radio about candlelighters and Bayshore but haven't seen anything. I dropped in quickly to Gymboree today but went in through the third floor. I'll check it out next time I'm there. I'd love to volunteer for it but DH is travelling constantly these days and its near impossible for me to book anything to do on my own in case he's out of town (no one to watch the kiddos). He should be finished by the end of the month so if they need help in August (after we get back on the 18th), let me know and I'd love to help.

Sydney has never had Dr. Halton (although my boys have for a blood clotting disorder). Her primary oncologist for the time of diagnosis was Dr. Johnson. She is now with Dr. Mandel but I believe Dr. Johnson was consulted when I requested that her urine be sent to an outside lab after the second test came back with a problem (that request also refused). Honestly, I've only spoken with Dr. Mandel once about it and that took three weeks of trying. I've been speaking with Pat who told me the doctors were too busy to speak with us, even by phone, and we should just wait for the next appointment in September. I just couldn't do that. I've always had nothing but amazing things to say about CHEO but quite honestly, the past few months have placed everything in a different light. You know, when I found the number of the neuroblastoma specialist in Chicago, I called it expecting either voice mail or a secretary. She answered her own phone. I told her who I was and asked if she had a few minutes. She said 'of course' and proceeded to talk with me for over 45min. at no charge at all... and she didn't even know us. Just puts things in a different light....

I love the July 4th design!!! It's gorgeous. We're on the Dream next year for the 4th and my parents' 50th anniversary! I'm going to slip them on all the doors when the rest of the family isn't looking!

OK, I took the pictures, trying to insert them into my reply, and I know this sounds lame, but I can't figure out how to do it...I searched and found the instructions but can not find 'Manage Attachment's button in my reply to thread....
Wow, do I feel silly ! There is a box that says posting rules and it says "You may not post attachments"
