Dishwashing time

Hi folks! Going back to the fort in April and we'll be cooking my meals at the campsite this time . Are there dish washing stations at the Comfort stations or will I wash on site and carry dirty water everywhere. I know this varies in other campgrounds I just wasn't for sure about the fort. Thanks ahead for the replies. PS any other helpful tips would be appreciated!

I am assuming you are tent camping? If so, I can't comment on the stations in the tent loops but I suppose you could use the hose hook up at your site if not?

No dishwashing stations, per se, burnaroonie.

In our non-sewer trips, a 2 bucket/tub method is used. Wipe every thing as best you can with paper towels or napkins, then soap & water in one tub and clean rinse water in the other. It doesn't take a lot of water in either case to do an effective job.

This water (known as gray water) should be disposed of in the deep sink of the laundry room at the Comfort Stations. Or a nearby empty site that has a sewer hook up. (I've done both). The deep sink is also the place to wash a big pot or awkward things that can't be done in the tubs.

The thing NOT TO DO is pour it out on the ground as it will draw animals some of whom are not always welcome (armadillos, raccoons, etc.).

You can use disposable plates and flatware to cut down on the wash up.

Only the Tent sites don't have a sewer hook up. If you're on a Preferred, Full, or Premium, just pour it down the sewer.

I haven't stayed at all the tent/pop up loops, but I was pretty sure they all had a small bar sink in a concrete pad next to the utility post that we ran our grey water hose into, unless you are in the group camping area which i think may not. So you could use tubs as suggested and dump them in the sink/drain right at your site. It is possible after you check in to look at your assigned site and others and pic the one you want, we have even switched between different price level sites(cant think of the term), just find a site thats empty and the CM has never said no. It seems these days there are a lot of empty sites, we usually go in Dec and even when they are booked solid there are empty sites. This makes me think there is truth to the "travel agents sellng FW on property benefits" thing. Hope your trip goes well.

There are the sinks in the laundry rooms that you can use, that was what we did when we had our pop up. Just make sure to wash out the sink.

I saw someone do something interesting. Since disney has the unique sewer hookups that you can easily rinse, its also a drain. I was walking the pups one day and saw a fella dumping his dirty dish water through a strainer into that basin then rinse the basin and throw out the debris in a trash can. I thought that was a great way to take are of dish water. But the deep sink in the laundry could do just as well other than needing to carry the tubs.

I have used that basing to dump dirty water from cleaning the grill too, it all goes into the same sewer.

Our current dog we refer to the living vacuum. He will eat just about anything including veggies. Celery has to be with something else though.

Of course you are forgetting about option 3.) Don't use plates/utensils. Just use your hands/ground. (Okay, so maybe not the best option for the kids, but I figure if it works for the dog... Why not, right?)

Thanks everyone for your help! Since my daughter is now 25 I don't normally have to tell her to clean her plate. Her boyfriend who is going with us is about 6 foot 8 and I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell him a thing except slow down. Our puppy can't go with us this time as she is old and has cancer. Maybe I could rent some kids to take with me? Seriously thank you very much we're used to doing the same things just didn't know if they had an area set up for it.

I have pulled muscles in my back and this made me laugh too hard, I'm in a lot of pain now. But the laugh was worth it.

We use paper plates and plastic wear to cut down on dish washing, since it is my job while camping, along with the cooking and tent cleaning. As for the pots and pans, I use the 2 tub method and take the gray water to the laundry room, after I run it through a strainer to get any big food items out of the water. Don't want to clog up the sink. I have seen people take all there dishes up to the laundry and use the sink to do there dishes there.

We have a very large jug with a wide opening that used to hold cooking oil when normally use that to pour everything into and then take to the appropriate area. I have a compost bucket that I take for any scraps that can go in there and normally put the larger pieces if any are left into the garbage. I still think renting kids would be a good idea since they could carry it over.

My kid would be too expensive to rent and probably wouldn't work out anyway.... We have to tell her multiple times to do her chores at home. Amazingly though, we don't have tell her at all to go do something she wants to do...

I'm willing to rent my dog out. We'll be there for every meal. My rates are resonable as well, feed me a plate and he'll clean em up.

Just don't use those handy little buried sinks to DO the dishes in! My parents woke up one morning to look out their RV window to see the family tent camping next to them in a FHU site using the sink to wash dishes in. By the time my dad put clothes on and got outside to try to gently advise them against it they were packing up and running off to catch the bus.
