My dishwasher has been making an awful noise for over a year now. I think it is the main motor but I cannot be sure. Now that other plastic pieces have broken I am looking to replace it. I do not have a set price in mind but it does have to be white. What alarms me is every time that I research a model I find numerous complaints and horror stories. These range from being noisy to not cleaning the dishes all the way to breaking down in the first few months. What I would like to know is what brand of dishwasher do you have and are you happy with it? I have just starting looking at the Miele brand which was rated number one from JD and Power but I am not sure if they are worth the $1,100.00 price tag (I have also read bad reviews on these also). Help!:confused3

Go with the highest rated dishwasher in your budget, where any oddities they noted are tolerable. Example: someone complaining about 'noisy' could have supersensitive hearing, or the dishwasher could be set incorrectly.

Purchased a Bosch after lots of research. AMAZINGLY quiet and gets the dishes much cleaner than prior Maytag. Only down side is it seems a bit smaller. I think our model was around $800 at Sears, and it comes in white.

We just put in a new kitchen and bought a Bosch. Ours was around $600 at Lowes. We absolutely love it. It cleans things I never would have dreamed of putting in the dishwasher (ex. bowls coated with dried oatmeal or cheese). I also often don't run it every day, but things come out spottless that have been sitting there for two or three days. :thumbsup2

My mother bought the older model (looks exactly the same) about two months before we got ours. I believe this is her 4th dishwasher in 12 years and she is just as thrilled with hers as we are with ours.

I have a kitchen aide and it sucks. I had problems the first year, its 4 yrs old and I continue to have problems. First the little spinny thing on the bottom that shoots the water, broke, then the computer panel, then the soap dispenser, now the control board is out again, luckily it's still under warranty. I swear it's been one thing after another. And I paid $800 for it so not a cheap appliance, but they just make everything cheap. Next time I'll go with the $300 model so when I have to put the money into repairs it won't be so bad.I liked the Bosch but it was just too small for my family, now if they'd make it bigger I'd be all over it.

I have an LG and I HATE it. It's been trouble since day one - leaky, won't stay level. They have been good about honoring the warranty and sending someone out to fix it, but I would not ever buy another LG.

Another satisfied BOSCH owner here:thumbsup2 In older posts I've previously commented on how happy we are with our BOSCH. I've had it for over 10yrs. now and a few months back it was making a horrendous noise andI thought "oh goood, I can update it to a newer stainless model" No such luck! The serviceman came (have never had any previous need to call one) and he removed a piece of broken glass from the pump area. So yes I am very happy with my BOSCH, but I really want an excuse for a new one! :rotfl:

ps...check your pump-all the service guy did was unscrew one screw and look inside...there it was..Took less than 15 minutes and I got charged for a full hr. service call $$$ - he did say he felt bad taking my $$$, but he did anyway!:sad2:

Another satisfied Bosch dishwasher lover! :thumbsup2

Love my Bosch! Miele is the gold standard though and have been forever. Bosch is the step under Miele brand, basically.

This is great info, keep it coming. I heard a lot of unhappy comments about the Bosch. It seems that you need very good water pressure in order for their nozzles to work since they do not have the traditional rotating arm. As far as Consumer Reports their last report rated the Kenmore the best dishwasher, these dishwashers are notorius for failed control panels. I have been unhappy with Consumer Reports since buying their best buy iron and blender. Both of them under performed and had to be replaced less than 6 months later.

This is my third home with a GE Profile w/pots and pans wash plus sanitize and I have never had one break. Not the highest priced one on the market either! :goodvibes

Bosch has levels. There are the top Bosch and the second tier ones. You kind of get what you pay for - though I think they're all generally better made than many lesser brands. A $900 Bosch is not the same as a $500 one though. You can look at the specs and see the differences in what the models do and how they're put together for the money. And mine has two spinning water thingys, so I dunno what you mean there? It does not have that weird heating thing inside the tub, which I like about it.

Kenmore I would not buy - it's not a brand, it's almost always a label slapped on other brands with minute changes. Often cheap, crappy brands or cheap, crappy changes on decent brands.

I saw a "Kenmore" fridge I liked an aspect of that I hadn't seen elsewhere at that point, so I figured out what fridge it actually was. It was an LG, with a Kenmore label slapped on and the LG standard stainless handles and water panel changed to black plastic (on the stainless model). It was also priced hundreds of dollars more than the LG anyplace.

They're a terrible ripoff with awful customer service. I've had excellent service from LG.

Whatever you do don't buy a Frigidaire. Every appliance in my house when we built was a Fridgidaire and so far I've replaced the fridge (compressor), the heating element on the stove and just two weeks ago the dishwasher (which had been not working properly for about 2 years, the timer was messed up and we had to manually click it). I just bought a Kenmore - Sears was running 40% off (maybe 30% don't remember exactly on all Kenmores two weeks ago and I love it so far. I also have a Kenmore vacuum and a Kenmore washer & dryer (which I've had since 2001 with NO problems).

I would NEVER pay $1100 for a diswasher. No way. Ours was $300 and that was enough. I think regular price was $359.

We just got a new Maytag, old dishwasher was a lower model maytag, still worked, brand new kitchen remodel with all new stainless appliances. New dishwasher is very quiet. Have had it for only about 6 weeks but extremely happy with it.

love my Bosch! Can't say that enough. Love my Bosch.

Also, after seeing the recommendation on here last year, I went to Sear's outlet. Got quite an awesome deal on it.
