Our trip in July will be our first DVC trip. I am assuming that i need to supply dish/laundry detergent because, it makes sence that I should.

My question is what do other DVCers do? what tips do you have for bringing the soaps?

If you are in a 1-bedroom or larger, there will be a box or two of power laundry detergent (single load box), a small bottle of dish soap and a package or two of detergent for the dishwasher. A studio will only have dish soap.

A number of members bring the Purex Complete 3-in-1 laundry sheets.

The dishwasher detergent is provided. We bring the Purex sheets for laundry. With the exception of studios, you do get one box of Tide each T&T and cleaning day, but we don't use Tide.

Put us down for the Purex 3 in 1 sheets....love them! And you don't have to worry about the powder or liquid getting on anything else when you are traveling. We do alot of dishes so we usually bring more dishwasher detergent....the little pellets or disks...again so we don't spill anything. Have a great trip!!

We LOVE the Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets, too! We get the refill pack and put a group in a gallon size ziplock bag. They are convenient and do not use a lot of room.

As for the dishes, we get a small bottle of dish soap and (I think) one dishwasher load of soap. We generally buy both at the grocery, since soap is cheap. We do get the smallest we can find, though.

Seems to be a gray discussion area here, but I've never had a problem getting additional dishwasher soap from mousekeeping. (Some resorts provide multi-use boxes, others provide single use)
Its not like laundry where you are usually washing your own clothes. The dishwasher is for washing DVC's dishes, that have to be cleaned before the next guest arrives.

My son has sensitive skin and I still wash our clothes in Dreft. I usually get a medium sized Gator-ade (or something similar) and after the drink is gone I wash the bottle out. Before we leave I measure out detergent figuring one load of wash a day and put it in the bottle. I know the cover will stay on tightly so I don't have spills to deal with, but just in case I put the bottle in a zip top bag and put it in my checked bag. I have never had an issue doing this. Bringing enough detergent to do a load of laundry a day (wash and then dry while we sleep) allows me to bring less luggage. Of course, the down side to this strategy is that it looks like my son wore the same clothes for a whole week when you look at the pictures! :rotfl2:

Love the Purex sheets. I leave them packed in my suitcase. I also usually bring some extra DW gel pacs if I know we'll be cooking and eating alot in the villa.

another vote for the purex sheets here!!!! I used to go with ziplock bags of powdered detergent and was always concerned about getting pulled aside at the airport by TSA/DEA! :lmao: Purex has taken that concern away.
