We have a trip booked to La Paz on the Baja Peninsula for the end of October. Hurricane John hit there a few weeks ago and I can't seem to get any information in regards to how bad the damage was. I called my travel agent, who called the tour operator that she bought the package from, who then called the resort (La Concha) and of course the resort said everything was fine. This will be my 19th trip to Mexico, but my first to La Paz. If there's one thing I'm sure of it's that no matter what kind of shape the resort is in, they will tell us everything's perfecto! I have tried getting info on the net to no avail. Do any of you resourseful Dis'ers have any ideas on how I could possibly get more detailed/legit info?

DH has friends in La Paz and he goes there a lot to dive. There isn't exactly a lot to destroy in La Paz though. I'll see if I can find out from the dive shop if there are any problems.

Are you staying in the condos in La Concha? They are much nicer than the rooms.

We wanted to stay in the condos but they don't allow children under 15, so we have to stay in the hotel. It's OK, I'm used to Mexico :teeth: "Rustic" takes on new meaning south of the border. What we were really after was a nice swimming beach and I understand that La Concha is on a much nicer beach than many of the others?

The shop hasn't answer my email yet, but when they do I'll PM you. La Concha probably has the best swimming beach in the area. There are some beautiful beaches in and around La Paz, but the water isn't always the healthiest to swim in. La Paz is a port town and, as you probably know, Mexico isn't onboard with environmental protection. If you go out on a boat though, the water is beautiful.
